The Remnant of Midgar (Pied Piper of Hamelin)

((OOC: This is totally not my writing style. But I wanted to follow Grimm's style, so that is what I did here. :3 I hope you like it/it is acceptable))

Once upon a time...

On north of side of Gaia was a town called Midgar. The citizens of Midgar were honest folk who lived contentedly in their urban houses. The years went by, and the town grew very rich.

Then one day, an extraordinary thing happened to disturb the peace.Midgar was struck with an illness known as Geostigma. A black plague swarmed over the whole town. The terrified citizens flocked to plead with ShinRa to free them from the plague of Geostigma—which the ShinRa company had been responsible for. But Rufus ShinRa had, for a long time, been sitting in the Presidential room, trying to think of a plan.

"What we need is an army of SOLIDERS!"

But all the SOLDIERS were dead.

"We'll atone for our mistakes then . . ."
But most of the damage was already done and even attempting to please the Planet did not stop the Geostigma.

"It just can't be done without help!" said the president sadly.

Just then, while the citizens milled around outside, there was a loud knock at the door. "Who can that be?" the Turks, ShinRa’s henchmen, wondered uneasily. Mindful of the angry crowds, they gingerly opened the door. And to their surprise, there stood a teenage boy, dressed in dark leather, with silver hair that obscured half his face, and waving a double bladed katana at them.

“I can cure your little problem,” the stranger announced, “All I want in return is Jenova!”

"Jenova!" exclaimed the president. "We'll give you Jenova and all her remains!"

And so the deal was set.

The sun was still below the horizon when the sound of zealous gospel wafted through the streets of Midgar. The little remnant slowly made his way through the houses and behind him flocked the diseased. Out they crawled, the ill of every size, all after the remnant. And as he preached, the stranger marched straight down to a black river, right up to his middle. Behind him swarmed those who were plagued and every one was taken over by the remnant’s will and told to remain out of the city to be used for a later purpose.

By the time the sun was high in the sky, there was not a diseased person in the town. There was even greater delight at the town hall, until the remnant tried to claim his payment.

"You want Jenova?" exclaimed the Turks, "Never..."

"You promised you’d give me Mother!" cried the little remnant angrily. But the President broke in. "Geostigma is dead now and it can never come back. . ."

His eyes flashing with rage, the little remnant pointed a threatening finger at the President and told him he’d regret his actions.

A shiver of fear ran through the Turks, but the President shrugged and said excitedly: "We've saved the Planet!"

That night, freed from the nightmare of the Geostigma, the citizens of Midgar slept more soundly than ever. And when the remnant returned to the streets at dawn, only the children were interested this time. Drawn as by magic, they hurried out of their homes. The long procession soon left the town and made its way through the woods and across a glowing forest till it reached the foot of a huge crater. Beyond lay the Northern Cave. All the children had followed the remnant into the cave, to which he held them captive by pure Willpower alone.

Only one little girl escaped this fate. It was her, named Marlene, who told the anxious citizens, searching for their children, what had happened. No matter what people did, the Northern Cave never gave up its victims, for you see, they had become the remnant’s new brothers and sisters! A brand new army of children to fight for Mother! And it was here, that the remnant known as Kadaj would keep the children until ShinRa upheld their deal—and returned Jenova to her rightful family.

[004 ☿] The far-off past

Ami is easily recognizable, but changed. She wears an elegant but modest royal gown with the skirts spread demurely over her lap, and the sigil of planet Mercury shows plainly on her forehead in pale blue. Princess Mercury, Ami, sits by a fountain in the inner courtyard of a vast marble palace, all enclosed by a dome. Light music surrounds her as she idly plucks a gentle tune on a rich harp, smiling and contented. Water lilies rest on the surface of the shallow pool.

The ground her skirts brush is of a different texture. This is the Moon and not Earth; Earth hangs large and beckoning in the sky like a ball of blue crystal. The air, artificial, seems still and quiet. Yet for all that, it is still a beautiful place of graceful lines and symmetry. Despite the ancient-seeming architecture, high technology is evident from the door mechanisms to the strategically placed viewscreens that show glimpses of Earth and its flowered fields blown by true winds, to the dome itself.

Welcome to the Silver Millenium paradise of the Moon Kingdom.

(ooc: bad ending will be the war and end of this world/the past life; feel free to let me know if you want to go there or not.)

003;

[Anya's version of a perfect life is fairly simple really. She lives in a picturesque (white picket fences and all) with Xander and a couple of kids they had after they got married.

In this dream, whoever's coming to visit is a friend of the family. The parent of one of their kid's friends? One of Xander's coworkers in construction?

Currently, Xander and the kids are out, but there are pictures of them on the wall as she lets you in, smiling happily.
]

It's good to see you.

[Over the years, Xander's helped her be a little less blunt and awkward.]

[Minato's sitting in front of a shrine on a bench, tuning his viola. He hums a note lightly to himself, running the bow across the strings to make sure it matches up. He has a good ear for pitch, and can tune from memory by now. The sky is a vivid blue above him, only small wisps of clouds drifting by, and the grass is a perfect green beneath his feet. Soft sounds of spring are in the background: birds chirping, people talking as they walk by, faint traffic.

He glances up when he notices someone approaching, and breaks into a smile. It's much brighter than anything seen on him before.]
Hi.

[This is his perfect dream, and in it, he has countless numbers of friends, all very close to him. He's alive again, after all, with no consequences. Therefore if you tag in, that's the case with Minato and your character - they're close friends.]

[003 ☿] Amusement Park Outing!

Tinny carnival music and excited chatter fill the air along with the mechanical creaking of the typical assortment of rides.

The Juuban amusement park. How many times has she been here? Familiarity doesn't seem to dampen Ami's enthusiasm, even now that she's older. It's a place tied to her subconscious - clearly, as here it is in her dream, and she'd even tried building it with Ariadne once. She smiles brightly, and goes from one entertainment to the next like a child again.

An older couple, their hands joined and both of them clearly very much in love, are never far from sight. They bear a familial resemblance to the young doctor: her parents, never divorced. A whole and loving family, forever. A young girl, almost the very picture of Ami herself, walks with them and calls them Grandma and Grandpa.

"Father has many things to attend to today, but he'll meet us here in an hour," Ami assures her daughter when she has a moment between rides and game booths. A family tradition, she could call it now. She likes that thought. "He always keeps his promises, doesn't he?" Her reward is a broad smile and a nod before the little girl runs off again. Ami, too, seems to trust this promise from her husband as she straightens to her full height and smiles quietly to herself.

(ooc: Anyone who comes is begged welcome to be her dear friend, as her ~perfect dream~ would definitely involve having a lot of friendships. Short version of dream changes: her parents never divorced, she is now married with children and a happy family life herself. She still has success in a rewarding medical career.)

This could've been an AU )

[OOC: Okay, so in Kamina's dream here, episode 8 ended on a far better note than it actually did. Feel free to show up aboard his new giant mech-battleship-thing.]

one

[You're in an open field. The sun is shining brightly, wild flowers are scattered about, and underneath the only true around is a boy with blond hair, ordinary clothes, and he's smiling just as bright at the sun because he's free, finally free, and living in a world without experiments, strange dead cities, or cruelty. If you happen to be in his family or rather he thinks you are, he will be turning to you with excitement lightening up his features.]

This is the future I wanted. What about you? Is this everything you dreamed it would be? [Well? Was it?]

The scene is not so different from the last dream brought forth from her... or at least the location is not so different. The house remains the same--but the weather is certainly different. It is warm, bright, distinctly... uplifting. Not like before when something seemed to be off balance no matter what happened.

This time the doorway of the house is wide open and the smell of food being prepared drifts from the house. Tomoe eventually emerges, taking a deep breath just outside the door before looking up at the bright sky, a near smile pulling at her lips.

Everything... just seemed right with the world right now.

[ooc; not sure what the bad end is going to be yet, or if I'll even do the bad end... but basically she has a perfect family life right now--things worked out with her husband and her brother and father and all is good in the world. People who tag in can either take on the roll of husband, father, brother, neighbor, etc, just let me know /o/]

First Diagnosis

There is a room filled with light, both from the windows at one end and the electric lights overhead. One wall is completely covered with mirrors, which helps to reflect all this light. It's a ballet studio and Christine is standing at the ballet bar in the back, stretching.

This is exactly where she wants to be and what she wants to be doing. Being prima ballerina had always been her dream until she found herself so thin and ill that she gave it all up to get healthy again. But that was all in the past. Now she was healthy and the star of the show.

She's alone here at the moment, completely focused on her breathing and stretches. Soon she'll head over to the computer on the wall and start the music she'll be dancing to in the production. She doesn't mind company though, and in fact would welcome anyone who wants to watch a ballerina practice her craft.

[ooc: The part where the dream takes a turn for the worst is when she injures herself, if we get up to that point.]

On an island that I own, tanned, and rested and alone.... Surrounded by enormous piles of money

[You find yourself in a castle- an extremely posh one, albeit one that looks ripped straight out of a fairy tale. It doesn't scream BADASS CASTLE, so much as it screams 'Disney paid for me,' but whatever. It's situated on a small island and the waves crash against the rocks below the castle walls.

Outside, Flynn is sword-fighting pretty fiercely with some random person- nondescript features, typical of a dream world. A good wrist flick and he manages to disarm the man and point the hilt of his blade at his chest. He circles the man, his voice taking on a dramatic edge to it.]

You're lucky today. I don't feel like getting blood on my lawn, but I could still change my mind if you don't get out of here in the next... Ten seconds. [The man runs off and Flynn's dramatic voice completely vanishes as he yells after him, laughing the whole time.] Yeah, you better run! [He sighs dreamily and sheathes his sword, flopping down on the grass to stare out at the water. This is perfect. He has everything- a lot of money, an island he owns, his own castle- oh sure, the occasional brigand tries to steal from him, but he puts that right quick enough.

Oh, and he's alone.

Yep. Perfect.]

[[OOC: ....Flynn's dream at this canon point is canon. Easiest post ever. Catch him just as he's enjoying his "Flynn-time."]]

two ; dream

It's the workshop. The one in Paris. Everything was as it was. It was slightly cool, the building not made for being comfortable. It was older, not exactly organized, but usable. The rooms were the same, the patio furniture they used, the tables still set up, and even Ariadne's architecture desk was there, models filling the brim.

In fact, Ariadne is in the middle, building. She's building a model for a dream. It's at the beginning stages, unrecognizable to anyone but her - the dreamer. There's music playing and she's humming along, her brain still building even as she's working on the model. She is content, she is serene, she is in her element.

ooc: if you wish to plot about this, there can be anything from Ariadne's subconscious thinking you're dangerous or if your character knows her, maybe even Cobol appearing (which could pop up as a plot for the rest of the month). otherwise come and bother the architect.

second battle

[You find yourself in a new dream. Unlike the last dream conjured by this particular mind, however, this dream is not set in a route from Nuvema to Accumula. Indeed, this dream is set somewhere else entirely from those three places.

Instead of a road paved with tall grass, there is a large arena in front of you. It seems empty today, seeing as it's one of the few slow days that Unova experiences.

Enter, however, and find not only Whitlea on the battlefield, but a green-haired young man facing off against her, while another young man with glasses and a young woman with a funny hat watch from the sidelines. All four of them seem to be good friends with each other, from the way they interact.

Whitlea smiles at the young man in front of her, a Pokeball in her hand.]

All right, N, I've been training for this day. Are you ready?

[The man nods, a smile on his face.]

Samurott, let's go!

((OOC: Whitlea's greatest desire, as you can see, is to be able to count N as a friend along with Cheren and Bianca. It's not deadly or anything, but she will focus on the battle and nothing else, which is why all replies will be post-battle.))

second;;

[This dream is much different than the last. That’s easy enough to see by the state of the Grid. Yes, you’re on the Grid again. But it’s not desolate like it was last time. It’s actually a pretty lively place. There are Programs and Users, alike, walking around, as well as a mix of ISOs and Basics. Tron City is still a bustling place fully in it’s prime, and there’s another separate city this time. Arjia City. Built by ISO hands. A beautiful place where ISOs and Basics live together. It’s also the city that Sam calls home.

Sam still communicates with the outside - with his father in particular. He hasn’t cut off ties completely. He even still technically works for his father. He plays guide for the Users who are new to the Grid. But there were no messages from Flynn about new Users. So there’s no need for him to wait at the replica of the arcade. Instead, he’s sitting at the bar in the End of Line Club. There are different Programs with different designations all around, as well as a number of Users. There are Sentries about, but no one seems too worried by them. They’re just security Programs. Tron’s men. They’re there to keep the peace. So relax. Have a drink of what passes for alcohol on the Grid. A glowing blue liquid. Enjoy the music. It never stops.

If you're up to it, Sam would be happy to take you to the Game Grid. And if you're feeling particularly gutsy, they're always looking for new entrants
]

ooc;; Flynn didn't disappear when Sam was a kid, which lead to Sam visiting the Grid at a young age and getting attached to it. Which eventually lead to him... not wanting to leave. Dream explanation over!

ღ Third Keychain ღ Don't Wake Me Up ღ

[It's strange. This world... It's beautiful. Almost like the last dream, he's at the Islands. But something is different. Very different. The entire Island is eroded, and the sea is endless purple--liquid darkness. But probably the strangest thing is the boy himself, standing there on the cracked and split sand. His expression is blank, unfeeling. At least on the surface. But his eyes... They're a beautiful, bright gold. And the crown on his cape is replaced instead by a black-and-red emblem designed to look like a crossed out heart.

That's right. He's been devoured by his own darkness, and those who can sense it... The light left in his heart could flicker out any second. His paradise... Everything is so simple. Nothing interferes with what Dad wants. And better yet: he's not alone.

To his right, standing about a yard behind him, quiet with face turned to the ground and hands clasped before her. The ever-patient friend from his childhood, the girl who always looked after him and kept him calm and in high spirits. She who is his light, keeping him whole and sane and human. Kairi. His princess, by his side forever.

To his left, standing only a few steps behind him, is a strong and silent boy. Silver hair, a sense of strength that rivals the Heartless Prince, and a handsome heart that supports his friends. The one who almost did forgoet, but came along with him into the darkness and has been his pillar, helping to keep him together when he needs it. Riku. His best friend and knight, supporting him so long as he should need him.

Quietly, and with the faintest of smiles, Sora looks over his shoulder, first to Kairi, then Riku.]

...See? We can stay here, in the darkness. And... It'll be just like old times. Our kingdom... Just the three of us, and dad, if he choses to show up.

[There's a laugh, and then he turns to the two, arms spread wide as they both just smile.]

We'll be able to live here forever! Isn't that great?

[[OOC: Kairi and Riku won't likely speak unless spoken to. Sora himself is also likely to lose his heart if he remains here too long. I'll start giving a countdown if our thread lasts long enough.]]

First Choice // Theme - "Don't Wake Me Up"

[You find yourself on a beach on the brink of sunset, shoes off, feet sinking into sand and the ocean surf washing over your ankles.

But you're not alone.

Further down the shore, two figures face each other, at odds. First is Sora, caught between chasing the cloaked figure waiting for him even farther down shore... or the two figures waiting underwater. Sora doesn't see them there, not from where he's standing. But feels them. And as a part of Sora's dream, so do you.

Well. He's got a choice. Catch the phantom- or meet the other two beneath the waves. Sora hesitates only for a few moments, gives the phantom one last glance (he's been trying to chase this guy down for several dreams already), and then makes his choice. He wades further into the water, doesn't look in the least bit fearful or anxious. Just eerily calm as he takes a deep breath and disappears beneath the surface.

He doesn't come back up.]

[ooc: Without intervention, Sora will remain submerged, holding Riku and Kairi's hands underwater for the remainder of the dream. Since Sora doesn't know he's dreaming yet, fellow dreamers have permission to influence or change events, may rush in and save him, or just watch him alongside the cloaked figure until the dream is over and all that entails, etc.]
