[007 ☿] Dream a little dream

[It's been a rainy dream, as Mizuno Ami (aged seven) walks home. Her backpack looks quite plump and full, probably due to the extra books she brings to have something to focus on during lunch.

Some things distract even her.

Ami hops across a few small puddles then, after a quick thought to decide it's alright, she hops across a much larger one. She sails through the air- and clears her target! All dry. She giggles in satisfaction.

The rain has stopped by now and there's a playground nearby, where the ground and equipment are somehow dry enough to use. Ami has a long time before Mama will be home, and she knows the people who live around here and play at this spot.

She can finish her homework after dinner (and she really will). Right now, she really wants to play. She climbs carefully into the seat of one of the swings, which turns out to be a touch too high for her and she pumps her legs but barely gets up momentum.

She might need a little help. She could also use a friend to play with.]

Need help?

[ Naruto was standing behind her--though he was dressed in attire different that normal. Just a plain orange t-shirt and white cargo shorts. He had a backpack, and he looks a little wet. He had been running home, but now his socks and sneakers were soaked so suddenly Naruto felt less inclined to run. But then, there was a little girl... ]

[ He liked kids. And normally kids like him, so hopefully he didn't scare her or anything. ]

[ But his smile was infectious. ]

[She didn't know him. Ami came to a full stop on the swing, not even pumping her legs now. She looked up - still up - at Naruto, her hands still on the chains of the swing.]

What's your name?

[She hadn't seen him around this area... She probably shouldn't talk to a stranger, but there were people around she did know so it should be safe, shouldn't it?

Though she had to admit, times like this it'd be nice if Mama was around. Just to be sure of things.]

I'm pleased to meet you, Uzumaki-san.

[Hmmm. He seems nice, really. Not threatening. And the idea of being able to swing sure is tempting... And it's nice that he thought to offer.]

Yeah! [ Naruto easily shrugged of his red backpack without a care. it plopped on the wet ground, just missing a puddle. He didn't seem to care though. with a good leap onto th playground area, he headed over, grinning brightly. he moved behind the young girl. ]

Okay! Do you want just like, kinda high, or like, super high so you're flying! [ but not flying out of her seat. that would be bad. ]

[he's standing in a playground and it might be Edge, except it looks less cluttered than Edge does. The concrete feel of the place is the same though. The air has that 'after rain' taste to it and the puddles attest to that too. It's a clean, safe feeling and he lets his feet take him forward. Feels like a Dream. Not his though... someone else's. The water gives him a hint but he's willing to wait and see.

His footsteps bring him to a playground and he's not surprised to see that there's a little girl on one of the swings. Or by the fact that, otherwise, the place is empty and devoid of people. He'll watch the little legs swing determinedly for a moment and then, still standing at the entrance, he'll softly ask:]

Would you like some help with that?

[In the dream, something of their meetings seems to carry over because she treats him like she might one of her mother's friends instead of a stranger. Ami comes to a complete stop before she answers, which only takes a moment, and answers very seriously.]

I can't go very high by myself on this swing. Could you push me, please?

[her response has his lips softening and relaxing into a quiet smile and he steps forward. She's only very small but he thinks he recognizes her anyway and so he'll pause in front of her, sinking to rest on his heels so that they're eye level.]

[Ami nods her head very seriously.]

My name is Mizuno Ami.

[ The Doctor rounds the corner, the TARDIS tucked neatly away. He casts a sad glance around before looking at his watch. It isn't time yet. He still has a bit to go. He slides his hands in his pockets and tilts his head back to look up at the cloud coverage.

With a whistle he starts through the park. ]

[Ami has just started to get frustrated, which results in a rather cute and not-too-serious pout on her face. She's just telling herself that it's fine to just sit here awhile, when the whistling distracts her. She looks all around for its source, and spots a foreigner!

This would be an excellent time for English practice. Because if a foreigner is randomly here, he might very well be lost.]

Excuse me. Are you looking for something?

[ He pulls his pant legs up slightly and kneels down in front of her with a smile... and speaks perfect Japanese. ]

Not at all.

[Ami's face lights up.] You speak Japanese! [This comes out in Japanese as well in her surprise.]

[Vanille finds herself in the playground, the ground wet from what it seemed to be a recent shower.

She sees the little girl pumping her little legs away but to no avail.

She goes up to her, looking rather out of place for being in a Japanese town. Especially with her red hair and bright green eyes]

Hey! Need help?

[Ami's mama teaches her well, and doesn't stare or point as some children might, with the barely-muffled mentions of 'foreigner'. Instead, she finds a shy smile but holds on tighter to the chains in her nervousness at meeting a new person.]

We haven't met yet. [She announces this as though it's the important thing, and it is: She knows not to be too friendly with strangers, or go anywhere with them.] What's your name?

[She probably sounds like even more of a foreigner with her Gran Pulse accent weighing heavily on her speech]

I'm Vanille! Pleased to meet you.

I'm Mizuno Ami. I'm pleased to meet you. [She sounds like she's reciting it from memory, and she probably is, the canned polite phrases that nonetheless come easily.]

[While Ami is on the swing, there's a young boy about her age sitting on a bench, reading a large book. Not really sure what the book is about, but he seems to be pretty into it. He doesn't pay Ami much attention, only glancing at her once as she first gets on the swing, since you know, books are fun, okay.]

[Definitely agreed: books are awesome. When Ami makes no progress swinging, she seems to notice Cheren finally. She isn't quite brave enough to speak up for a long while, but she slips down from the swing and comes closer (while making a laughably see-through attempt not to seem like she's staring) to try to glance at the title.]

[After a while, Cheren notices Ami staring at him. At first he doesn't say anything, because you know, he's not sure if he cares too much why she's staring. Shortly after that, Cheren changes his mind and decides he does care. He glances over the top of his book at Ami once more before closing the book and turning his attention to her.]

[Crap. Caught! Ami suddenly finds something near her feet fascinating.]

I'm sorry! I just... I saw you reading, and I wanted to see the book, sort of... [Her voice trails off into quiet.]

[There's a tall gangly man all in black sitting on the swing next to you--was he there a moment ago?]

You have to put your whole body into it. Lean back when your legs go up, lean forward when your legs go down.

[She's really not sure if he was there before or not; he's there now, and that's what matters to the dream. Ami turns her head sharply to look at Jack, and bobs her head in a nod before doing as he says. She leans back and forward with the rhythm of the swing, and starts to make slow progress.]

It's moving! It's going faster!

[He smiles crookedly.] Better, isn't it?

[He decides he wants to swing too. He has the opposite problem from you, however: he's too tall. If he tried to swing, he'd end up slamming his legs into the ground. He frowns in thought for a bit. Then he gets up and starts tossing the swing over the top bar.]

[She swings without looking beside her, until she notices the clang of the other swing against the bar.]
