onepassingnight | [007 ☿] Dream a little dream

[It's been a rainy dream, as Mizuno Ami (aged seven) walks home. Her backpack looks quite plump and full, probably due to the extra books she brings to have something to focus on during lunch.

Some things distract even her.

Ami hops across a few small puddles then, after a quick thought to decide it's alright, she hops across a much larger one. She sails through the air- and clears her target! All dry. She giggles in satisfaction.

The rain has stopped by now and there's a playground nearby, where the ground and equipment are somehow dry enough to use. Ami has a long time before Mama will be home, and she knows the people who live around here and play at this spot.

She can finish her homework after dinner (and she really will). Right now, she really wants to play. She climbs carefully into the seat of one of the swings, which turns out to be a touch too high for her and she pumps her legs but barely gets up momentum.

She might need a little help. She could also use a friend to play with.]

[Ami's mama teaches her well, and doesn't stare or point as some children might, with the barely-muffled mentions of 'foreigner'. Instead, she finds a shy smile but holds on tighter to the chains in her nervousness at meeting a new person.]

We haven't met yet. [She announces this as though it's the important thing, and it is: She knows not to be too friendly with strangers, or go anywhere with them.] What's your name?

[She probably sounds like even more of a foreigner with her Gran Pulse accent weighing heavily on her speech]

I'm Vanille! Pleased to meet you.

What's your name?

[Smart girl not getting ahead of herself as she would have probably done]

I'm Mizuno Ami. I'm pleased to meet you. [She sounds like she's reciting it from memory, and she probably is, the canned polite phrases that nonetheless come easily.]

What a cute name, Ami!

Now, want me to push you? You can go really high!

Is it alright if you do?

It'll be juuust fine.

[She goes behind her and starts pushing her gently]

Just tell me if it's too high for you, okay?

I'll tell you. But I want to go really high.

[She holds on tight, and settles into the seat. Soon enough, she feels herself moving.]

Okay~!

[She pushes her gently, but with enough force to get a good momentum going]

[It's an even, soothing motion; like being a pendulum; she's played with those before. Ami's smile only grows, and she laughs. She makes a point of saying a word each time she swings closest to Vanille:]

[she gives her a good solid push to get her going even more]

[Ami kicks her feet in sudden nervousness at the speed; but a moment later, she seems to enjoy this, too.]

Faster! [Oh, dear. She's got a taste for it now! She pulls against the chains and pumps her legs.]

Faster we go!

[She pushes her to go faster, careful not to be too rough and if she falls, she'll be able to catch her]

[Ami lets herself go higher, higher, and then when she runs out of courage to go any further, she leans forward...

and lets go. It's an easy jump, but magnified to a child's eyes it's an impressive one. It's certainly a fun one as she sails through the air and lands on her feet.],/i>

[Vanille watches as she jumps and lands right on her feet. Children were so spry]

Nice one!

[Ami grins up at Vanille.] It really was! Thank you.

[She giggles. She thinks for a second.]

You wanna see a magic trick?

[Ami nods her head eagerly.] Please show me!

[She holds out her hand and whispers]

Fire

[A small ball of flame appears in her hand]

But watch this!

Blizzard.

[The ball of flame turns into ice]

[It's a good trick! Ami's head perks up quickly. She starts to reach out, then draws her hand back. She looks up at Vanille.]

Is it OK to touch it?

[She nods and leans over just a little, holding the ice ball out to her]

Mm-hmm! You can touch it.

[Ami reaches out for the ice, but as soon as her finger touches it, it grows larger. She yanks her hand back in surprise.]

Oh!

[She looks at it and tilts her head]

Touch it again.

[Ami, convincing herself this is part of Vanille's magic trick, and now knowing to expect a reaction, reaches out to touch the ice again. This time, it melts - but the water stays in a perfect ball, hovering in the air.

Even Ami is impressed now.]

Amazing!

[Her eyes widen in amazement]

Woooooow....That is amazing!

[She moves her hands from under it slowly]

You must be doing that....

[She'll wonder about it later, the powers they say are because of her, powers in herself she hasn't realized. Is there something like that in reality?

Ami cups her hands under the ball of water, which stays in place.]

But I don't know any magic. It's you.
