[Anya is sitting behind the counter of the Magic Box, like she does most days. And she's going over one of the ledgers like she has been lately since Giles keeps making her double check everything. But she's still watching the patrons out of the corner of her eye.

If there's one thing Anya hates, it's people who loiter around and never buy anything. They are the leeches of Capitalist society, as far as she's concerned.]

If you don't want to be thrown out of the store, I highly recommend you actually purchase something.

Does she still... [makes a really grossed out face.] You know. With Spike?

I don't think so. He seems too depressed to be possibly getting orgasms on a regular basis.

Depressed. [She snorts, humorless.] He's been trying to kill me since we met.

And now he's depressed.

It doesn't make a lot of sense, but it seems to be how things are going nonetheless.

Yeah, well, not a lot of things make sense right now.

How's Xander? And Giles?

Xander is keeping busy, like he does. We're going to get married! [She paused before frowning.] Or we will if he ever bothers to tell anyone about our engagement.

Giles is going to go back to England.

You...and Xander? Really? Anya, that's... [Her excitedomg face falls a bit, but she covers it quickly with another smile. However short-lived it is when she hears that next tidbit.]

What. Wh-- But Giles. And.

I'm really happy for you and Xand, Anya. [But she's still frowning about Giles.]

It seems Giles thinks he has no reason to stay in Sunnydale without you around. He's leaving the store to me. He's going to be a silent partner. Very silent.

[She smiles at the mention of Buffy being happy for them.] At first I thought he only proposed because we were going to die, but I think he really means it.

I guess that makes sense. [She says very softly, and not at all like she means it.]

You know I'll come back from the dead just to kick his butt if he backs out now! Of course he means it.

I hope so. I would hate to have to punish him if he pulled out on me.

...Just checking, but you mean the regular punish-y Anya and not vengeance-y Anya, right?

Regular Anya, of course! Not in the vengeance business anymore, couldn't do it even if I wanted to, which I don't.

Sorry, sorry. Just...checking. There are lots of punish-y feelings this side too, if he makes the way of a chicken.

Oh oh oh! [She brushes some of her hair aside, looking more cheerful, however fleeting.] Could you tell Xander I miss him? And that I'm happy for you guys. If - if you remember when you wake up.

Assuming I remember, I'll be sure to tell him. He might not believe me though. He'll just give me the same look he does whenever he thinks I've said something particularly strange.

[Awkward pause.]

It's nice to talk to you again, even if this is just a dream and you're probably just a figment of my imagination.

Come on, he'll believe it. This is the Hellmouth, Anya. What's more unbelievable than that? Besides, Willow will remember. She's all in her witchy way, and the knowing it's a dream and that I'm really me and-- this sentence is getting a little too run-on. But the point is she'll know.

Well if she'll know then logically, I'll know when I wake up too. Or will she only know because she's a witch. That hardly seems fair.

Yeah well, life isn't fair. [She may be channeling Giles or her mom for that one, but mostly she thinks Anya should just be glad she has a life to be unfair.] But if you don't remember it, Will .. will remind you. Was what I was getting at.

[Anya's quiet for a moment. She's used to that kind of reaction from Giles and Willow a little more than Buffy.] Oh. That is true, I'm sure she would.

Yeah, so... either way, you'll know.

That's good. I'll like knowing I got to talk to you again, even if it's sad we can only do so here.

Yeah... Sad. [She leans over to pull Anya into a hug, even though she feels a lot of awkward over it, it also just feels like the right sort of cozy thing to do.] ..Is this weird?
