[Anya is sitting behind the counter of the Magic Box, like she does most days. And she's going over one of the ledgers like she has been lately since Giles keeps making her double check everything. But she's still watching the patrons out of the corner of her eye.

If there's one thing Anya hates, it's people who loiter around and never buy anything. They are the leeches of Capitalist society, as far as she's concerned.]

If you don't want to be thrown out of the store, I highly recommend you actually purchase something.

Anya leaves her post at the cash register (a little reluctantly, she prefers to stay close to the money, just in case) in order to lead him to where they kept the spell books. She pulled out one of the basic, more introductory ones. "This should fit your needs."

He takes the book, paging through it with curious eyes. Spellwork, okay then. That's not exactly what he was expecting but he'll go with it.

"Thank you," he says with a smile. "I really appreciate this." Don't ask him what he's going to do with the book once he has it but well, he's curious. The dreams leave him even more apt to see what he can do.

"What's your name," he questions then, smiling at her.

"Anya Christina Emanuella Jenkins." Xander has reminded her on more than one occasion that she didn't need to give off all of that when she introduced herself, but it had become almost force of habit. As if it was a way to say "look at me, I'm totally a normal human, I'm doubly normal with my two middle names."

It took her a moment and then she remembered that she was supposed to ask for his name too. Giles was constantly getting on her case for not having better manners with the customers. "So now it's time for you to give me your name too."

[Anya is really fascinated by this.] I didn't know that was possible. I wonder if Giles knows about this.

"Neal Caffrey," he introduces with a slight laugh. "Sorry, my name not as impressive as yours." He flips through the book again before looking up at Anya. "So, you work here, right? Do you like it? I mean, I've heard horror stories about retail but..." He grins a little.

Once again, Anya found herself confused. "Why would someone think retail is like a horror story? It's the very representation of the backbone of our country, Capitalism. There are few things in this world as satisfying as getting money in the exchange for goods."

He laughs, shaking his head at her. She's definitely odd but the oddness is interesting. "Some people are just weird like that," he explains. "They don't like the people aspect. The exchange of goods is one thing but when you put in the human factor, some people get a little tetchy. Have you never had a customer that got on your nerves?"

"Only when they loiter and waste my time instead of purchasing something like a proper consumer." In general, Anya wasn't fantastic with dealing with customers, and usually left that part to Willow or Giles, but she was slowly getting a little better.

"Well," he says, laughing and pulling out his wallet. "I guess it's a good thing that I'm not wasting your time then." He waggles the wallet in front of her, a promise that he'll leave with something, even if it's not going to be much use to him later.

"How long have you been working ere," he questions then, simply curious and in the mood to make conversation.

"For about a year now," She replied with a smile. "Giles hired me after how good he saw I was with money and inventory." She was proud of herself, being able to hold up a job like a regular human.
