007 | wizards in winter |
[ The Doctor simply nods to the dreamer as they find themselves in The TARDIS console room. He's flying around the console, as par usual, hitting random things and random dials. Sitting on his head is a cowboy hat. Somehow, it just works with the bowtie, suspenders and green coat. Don't ask. ]
Right then! I've got a special treat in mind. [ He turns away from the console, facing the dreamer with a smile on his face. He crosses his arms over his chest. ] I've got the TARDIS set up to land on one day of the year - any year - any place in any year! One special day. It comes around every year but it's the day that almost everyone looks forward to. All I have to do is hit the randomize blinker and we're off!
Call it a present! You'll understand when we land.
(( ooc: non-event post for December! The Doctor is taking your characters to a place they've never been before on December 24th--Christmas Eve! Just head on over to the R.N.G. and leave the number you picked somewhere in your post. The numbers are from 1-5. It can be brackets, subject header, whatever~ but you won't know where your character is going until they do! ALSO: This is a canon update post to post-Closing Time (6.11). The Doctor is off on his round about last tour before he heads to his death. Hence the present to you all. ))

I won't spoil the fun. Why does everyone want to know before hand?
no subject
We want to know what sort of path we're on. So we can be prepared. [Orderly, methodical, precise.]
no subject
That takes the fun out of it! Live a little, Ami. [ He twirls around back to the board and flips a few switches. ]
no subject
But she's never been all that good at letting go and having fun - not until the Dark Kingdom and its mania, and not afterward when she settled into the routines of responsibility and work. The more things change...]
Show me your fun, then. [It takes someone to pull her into it.]

The Doctor flips the lever and the TARDIS comes to a halt. With a grin he bolts past her, tapping her on the nose, and sliding to a stop at the doors. He turns his back to them motioning for her to come along. ]

She waits first. Stepping into something unknown isn't the easiest for her. But she squares her shoulders, nods as if to herself, and steps out with her head high. She catches up to stand beside the Doctor.]
So? Where is this?
no subject
Then he pushes the doors out behind her and steps outside... into a hallway. The Doctor blinks, looking back at her with a smile. The house is dark, presumably everyone is asleep. ]
Looks like someone's home. Just turn of the 20th Century, meaning Edwardian. Or somewhere thereabout... [ He holds up a finger. ] Oh, Russia. Very cold.

[Ami glances up and down the hallway before taking a step. She frowns thoughtfully, then spots a portrait hanging on the wall. She takes out her teletia-S, a small device that looks exactly like a cell phone (gadgets like this are fun) and aims it at the picture.
She takes a photo of the portrait, and cycles through the stored pictures to select the new one. Aiming the phone at herself, she presses the button...
Voila! Edwardian Russian Ami smirks smugly at the Doctor, hair and dress now perfectly suited to their new location - and time, taken directly from the portrait with just a very few changes.]
So this should be better, right?
no subject
Well, yes. If you really want to fit in.
no subject
Isn't it better this way? If you don't want to have to explain so much?
no subject
no subject
So even you can be surprised. Don't think I'm simple, alright?
[She glances up and down the hall again.]
Shall we go?
no subject
I love a good surprise, me.
[ He offers his arm. Let's go! ]
no subject
Will we meet the people who live here? [What will they think of people intruding so suddenly?]
no subject
Maybe they're not home. No lights are on.
no subject
Right now, it feels adventurous. Or at the very least, she doesn't have enough consideration for those worries to let them hold her back.]
Then, shall we look around?
no subject
no subject
[But rather than heated, her expression is that wry half-amusement the Doctor seems to provoke in her when they're not arguing. He really is... quite a character.]

[ They turn into the room. It's a typical Edwardian room with a giant real Christmas tree. Decorated, presents under the tree. The whole nine yards. ]

[ He gestures to it, though something catches his eye. In the corner is an old grandfather clock--an old one--and a small doll house. The Doctor walks over to the dollhouse, tapping it. It comes to life with with gears moving bits of it around, and a familiar Christmas tune (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QITJK8ExG-U). ]
Oh!
no subject
That's something for her to piece together when she wakes up.
Ami heads straight for the dollhouse, but the distant look she gives it is far more analytical than amazed, as if she's trying to figure out the gears.]
