[012 ☿] Mer-cury

She's a mermaid, slipping through the water even faster than her normal body could do, darting beneath the waves and breathing her element. Her tail, shimmering blue and silver scales, flickers to speed her along. Sapphires adorn her ears and neck. When she surfaces, finally, she rests on a small rock outcropping, and plays her harp.

The music is clear and lovely. When her voice joins it, lilting and enticing, it becomes irresistible. Nothing like it belongs to this world. Ships divert their courses, heading straight for the rocks, heedless and helpless.

The inevitable wreckage causes chaos. Men shout and struggle to keep themselves afloat. A black-haired soldier determined to reach Mercury finally comes close, only for the mermaid to grab him with unnatural strength and drag him beneath the water with her in a grasping and clinging embrace. She laughs coldly, stirring up a cloud of bubbles that entangle themselves in her hair that wavers with the current. She likes luring them to her.

These sailors and soldiers are far from the first. In the background, the remains of several ships pile up against the misty horizon, notably one marked as the SS Senshi.

[ooc: join in the mer-cury's mischief, be drowned or wrecked (or spared if you're a friend!), just swim together, anything goes. can tell me what you'd prefer.]

There is no resistance within the rough handling. Either he doesn't notice, or he's far beyond caring.

The man continues to smile down at her, allowing himself to be pulled into her arms and back into the ocean, wrapping his own around her floral-like waist. His feet kick against the waves lazily, half to keep him afloat, half simply on instinct because he doesn't want to leave her.

He never does.

On the outside, he's already drowning in a mesh of green liquid - has been, for quite some time. Breathing only occurs when his mind attempts to remind him he's still alive, and even that's not very often because he's just not awake enough to realize it these days.

On the inside, he's also lost his sense of free will.

Encompassed by a charm and seemed thicker than the water around him, he cared just as little as he does in the waking world. With her arms around him, pulling him down into gods know where, nothing else seems to matter more than her and her being there with him forever. Schools of fish tickle by his arm, nuzzling and curious, and he is able to spare a meager glance at a few.

So, with some obvious difficulty, he manages to pull one arm from his waist, extending it the the little creatures in greeting.

His movements are sluggish, his senses dull and his mind millions of miles away, in her grasp.

His lifeless eyes watch the school of fish swarm and swirl, not really taking in much of anything but still pulled in by the sight. What... were they doing, to act like that? Did they want to be with her, too? They could share...

His form snuggles in closer against her side, the uncomfortable feeling in his chest starting to form. Realization that he probably should still breathe was lost on him, mind clouded over with those delusions of love.

They'd swim further and further down, where he wouldn't have to think about anything anymore...

Something nudges at his head - once, then again.

It becomes an insistent, physical force that drives his thoughts away from what they should be focusing on - mercury, nothing more, going deeper down and damn it all if he died he would stay with her - and, at first, he lazily tries swatting the fish away. The edges of his vision are starting to darkness, the loss of consciousness imminent. He knows he'll probably drown soon and...

No. Why was that important? It was stupid to think about. She wouldn't let him die like this. She loved him...

The soldier moans a little, without even breathing and the little gulp of water he does inhale causes him to sputter. The eels are slipping under his arms, trying to pull them apart while the school of fish keep that wall steady. He blinks once, then again, trying to clear the warm fog from his mind but it's still so difficult.

One hand still stubbornly clings to her.

Tell me if this isn't okay!

The blast of water is enough to finally shake his mind free of her hold, the realization that he was drowning now coming in full force. The stab of the burns, with the blood still clouding around his leg were all the more evident, and the peaceful demeanor shatters into a mesh of flailing and muffled screams.

He doesn't even realize it's his friend grasping for his hand, keeping him down - the soldier just starts kicking at whatever's still anchoring him to the ocean's depths, desperate to come up for air.
