[008 ☿] Cliff-Diving

[There's a gorgeous view from up here: a rocky cliff face overlooking the sea. The breeze plays with her hair as Ami waits at the very highest point, right on the edge. She looks down, an angle likely to give vertigo but she only grins broader.

She's going to jump.

She lets go, and her body suddenly looks so small against the backdrop of open sky as she plummets towards the water and sinks beneath the waves. The movement is a thrilling rush and the moment she's immersed, she smiles. She lets herself stay there, savoring the feeling, and she rises to the surface only reluctantly and belatedly.]

(ooc: not necessarily theme, but I'm open to theme antics as well if anyone wanted to catch her here for them; let me know)

[Ami, of course, is already ready for her next turn, already stripped down to a modest but stylish one-piece bathing suit. She steps closer to the edge herself.]

[Vanille tilts her head to the side, staring at the water]

You go, I'll watch you first.

[Ami slowly comes beside Vanille, then beyond her.]

If you're feeling afraid.

[And with that, she launches herself into another dive, showing off with a somersault before unfolding her body as she reaches the water.]

[She puffs out her cheeks at that comment]

I am not!

[She watches Mercury's technique, but decides that doing a simple dive would be best]

Here I go....

[She spreads her arms out wide and lets herself fall. As she nears the water, she turned her body into a spear and pierces through the surface.]

[Ami surfaces and shakes her head; droplets of water scatter from her hair.]

I like this sort of thing. That feeling when I'm dropping towards the water.

[She finally turns her head towards Vanille.]

See? No need to be scared.

[Vanille shakes her drooping pigtails out]

I wasn't scared! Just a little hesitant, that's all.

[Seriously, Vanille? And yet that pouty indignant denial reminds her of-]

Nah-uh. I did it, didn't I?

[She starts swimming towards the shore]

Let's do it again!

[The enthusiasm doesn't help diminish the sense of familiarity.

She tries to brush it off, and makes it into a challenge.]

Let's go! It's too bad it can't be higher.

[And with that, she's all but running up towards the peak again, for the simple fun of it.]

[Vanille follows her, running and giggling as she tails Mercury.]

[Giggling? Ami calls back a taunt over her shoulder.]

You won't get ahead if you're too busy laughing at nothing!

[She runs faster to get ahead]

[Oh, she can handle this. As soon as Vanille picks up her pace, Ami starts running in the precise center of the pathway, the easier to block Vanille from actually pulling ahead of her.]

[Don't underestimate a girl from Gran Pulse. Her toes dig into the earth as she starts tearing down the trail. She reaches her hands out and places them on her shoulders. Then up and over!]

Weeee~!

[Did she really just-?

She did. It's the sort of thing the senshi had even done in battle, so it isn't exactly shocking in itself.

But did Vanille seriously just do that to win their race? Ami ends up grinning despite herself. If it's going to be a competition, it better be worthwhile, right?

Ami quickens her pace, pushing herself now, to catch back up.]

[She giggled again, not looking back. If there was one thing she learned from living on Gran Pulse it was to never look back while running. That was the first thing to slow you down.

So she just continued to sprint]

[Ami's feet hit the ground rapidly as she closes the distance. She just needs to catch up. Overtake the other girl. She resists the temptation to make it easier - she could always impede Vanille's gait with fog or ice - and keeps running instead.

It's kind of fun in itself.]

Don't think you'll stay ahead!

[Careful magical girl. This one's got some magic of her own. But she's also playing fair, she could easily cast FOG or SLOW. Running freely, though, that was the way to go!]

Try to catch me~!

[She pushed her skinny legs to go faster, making sure to stay ahead]

[And then she'd desperately try to find a way around those. She doesn't object to making things more... fun! For right now, though, it's all running until she does catch Vanille and they're pacing each other .]

[She glances over to the side and smiles at her]

Oh no you don't!

[Oh yes she does. Her smirk widens, and Ami drives herself just that bit faster still, fully expecting Vanille to do the same and keep them neck to neck.]

[Vanille pushes herself more, trying to keep her breath even. She pretends that she's a wild chocobo! Running quickly, the wind whipping through her hair]

[They're just about there, and she pushes herself to sprint the end- when Vanille passes her. She stops several feet from the cliff edge, a safe distance, and catches her breath while she decides whether to be annoyed.]

[Vanille slows to a stop, a little ahead of Mercury. She walks around slowly, catching her breath]

You're fast!

[She giggles a bit, then continues to pant]

[But now, after this, Ami is eager to get back to her element.]

I'm ready to keep going.

[and she's heading towards the cliff edge.]
