[ The dream tonight is a rather empty one, compared to the brilliant things that people could find themselves in. A simple beach surrounded by mountains, clear blue skies and a deep blue lake, and a small picnic area set to the side. The moon can be seen, despite it being day, rippling in the water. By the waterfront is an old station wagon, and of course the Doctor. He stands with his hands in his pockets, staring out over the restless waters, with his back to the dreamer.

He seems older than normal. He doesn't look a day older, but his shoulders are sagged and his head held as if he were carrying burdens upon burdens of the universe - similar to Atlas. With a deep sigh, he tilts his head back and looks up at the sky. ]



(ooc: This is Future!Eleven for the time event! As explained in the ooc post, it means this is the Eleven we see from the beginning of Impossible Astronaut as opposed to the Eleven from The Doctor's Wife. Your character doesn't need to be affected by the event to tag him, but Eleven will be acting as if he has known your character for nearly two hundred years~ )

[ The Doctor turns to look at her, his eyebrows raising in surprise for a moment--just a moment. The symbol on her head is rather hard not to recognize. ]

Mercury... technically, Princess Mercury.

[Faint surprise shows in a widening of her eyes, too graceful to be called a flinch but nonetheless wary. She took a second look at the rather strangely-clothed (for her limited experience on Earth) man.]

You know me. [Her head subconsciously turns to try for a better look at their surroundings; were they near the Earth Kingdom castle somehow? No; no, none of this was familiar. She brings her eyes back to the Doctor.]

You have me at an advantage. Please introduce yourself.

Well, yes and know. I know you in the future.

[ He bows his head respectfully. ] The Doctor.

[In Princess Mercury's experience, this is indeed possible, so the claim meets with no skepticism. In fact, right now, it's reassuring. The dire predictions and prophesies can't be true if there's a future. Their princess will be alright. She smiles vaguely; there are still too many confusing parts.]

The Doctor of which village? To tell the truth, I find myself a little lost, and... [She trails off worriedly. How to get back if she's nowhere near where she knows?]

[ He gestures around them. ] Utah! Earth.

[She smiles softly for a moment. As she'd thought, it was Earth.]

I must have been thinking about it a great deal lately. [And who would not? The beautiful, sacred planet.]

[Yet she's aware of herself as a dreamer. Mercury looks uncertainly at the Doctor.]

Then we share the dream? Can that be true? Is it really possible?

[The ramifications are staggering, and beyond that- what does it suggest for the properties of the human (or Silver Millenium, or Time Lord) mind?]

You are experiencing it now, Princess. I would say that makes it a reality and a possibility. I am a firm believer of the impossible.

This goes beyond even what our technology has accomplished thus far.

[Which, in her experience, leaves open the possibility of magical interference. And thus, a source and cause. Could someone be manipulating things?]

[She sounds rather, well, incredulous. How could they not have noticed? Oh, there were the shitennou, powerful men in their own right, but most humans were fairly simple.]

I just thought... if we could do this, if people could truly dream together, we could accomplish truly great things. Combining our thinking so directly would lead to immense, rapid progress.

No one has managed anything like that before, sharing ideas directly between their minds.

[Even among the senshi, even among the shitennou, there is a certain psychic bond but it is very vague. It's certainly not precise enough to allow for this sort of direct idea sharing. Even storing the Queen's consciousness in the castle computers had been very different.]

Do you think it may be possible?

It is. Maybe not in your normal timeframe, but it is. It will be.

It explains a lot. Being here, for one. Dreaming like this. An interruption in the normal timeline. But then- how? Why?
