2nd Crystal

[Bodhum, the beginning of everything. This is where the destinies of the six l'Cie intertwined, where everyone watched the same fireworks, and watched the same sunset. Then ultimately, tried to get purged.

But that was all different here. In this little dreamscape, there was no purging, no fal'Cie, no l'Cie, nothing. It was a peaceful marina beach-scape where there was nothing but the beautiful sunset that Bodhum was famous for, the water, and little beach houses and restaurant shacks.

Tourists bustled around, chatting animatedly about the upcoming fireworks for the evening, what they've done that day, or buying souvenirs.

But Vanille herself sat there, watching the sunset on the horizon of the ocean on a pier. This was the area where she met Serah.

What sort of company would grace her this time around?]

[ Naruto knew he was asking for too much hoping for a kiss (even just a small one, like on the cheek!), but when she handed him the beads, he took them, looking them over. They were brown and orange--Naruto was rather fond of orange, but of course Vanille knew that already. They were in a spiraling pattern. ]

Beach worthy, hehe! [ he put it around his neck. It didn't match the green crystal necklace he was wearing at all, but that was all right. They layered with one another. ] Awesome! Thanks, Vanille.

[She nodded and started to eat the rest of her meal so that they could catch the surprise! It looked good on him! But that was the first time she really noticed the necklace on him]

That's a pretty necklace, Naruto.

Eh? Oh... this thing? [ Naruto held it up with his free hand, the other moving food into his mouth. He at least had the decently (around a cute girl) to not talk with his mouth full ] I won it in a bet from the Fifth Hokage! [ the crystal gave off mystical shine ]

[She makes an awed noise at the way it sparkled]

So you're going to be the sixth Hokage?

Absolutely! Its been my dream since I can remember! When I become Hokage... everyone will notice me! Everyone will have respect for me! And...

I'll be able to protect all my friends. [ he grinned to her. ] ...I didn't have friends before... but now that I do, become Hokage isn't just about me anymore. Its about all of them!

[ she swung the string the necklace was on around his finger ] ...Tsunade-baa-chan said that this necklace was bad luck. It once belonged to the first Hokage! She inherited it, being his granddaughter...but everyone else who's worn it since then had died a horrible death in war. But... if the First Hokage wore it, it must be great! And I'm not ready to die... not yet!

[Vanille watched Naruto talk about his dream excitedly. It was not only a goal for himself, but to be able to protect others. She couldn't help but smile brightly. She herself never had a goal, not really. She wanted to become a l'Cie with Fang to protect her and her village, but she found out how well that went.

But she was finally able to protect those she called family, so perhaps her dream was fulfilled, she had no regrets. She wiped at her eye quickly, catching a tear before it fell down her cheek.

She reached out and held Naruto's shoulders tightly]

Go for it, Naruto! Live your dream, okay? Don't stop until you've completed it. No matter what it takes. Even if you get nervous, even if you get scared, even if you think you can't, do it.

I believe in you.

[She took a drink of her bottle to disguise any sort of sad feelings she may have been showing]

When you're done, we have one last place to go!

[ Naruto watched her, noticing how she gripped his shoulders. the conviciton in her voice... ]

[ ...He had a feeling she knew what he was talking about. No one had ever really known before. ]

[ But things like this? He supposed that's what dreams were for. ]

[ He wondered if somewhere, somewhere far out there, beyond the Fire Country, beyond the vast continent he lived in, perhaps there was a place called Gran Pulse. Perhaps a giant spherical orb in the sky called Cocoon was floating, and far away, in the town of Oerba, there was a girl, a girl who felt something similar to the pain he had felt inside since the day he could remember that... everyone hated him for a reason he didn't understand. ]

[ A girl who believed in him. ]

[ Naruto stared at Vanille, before offering her a small smile. ]

Thanks. I will.

[ he turned away, and shoveled his food down happily. in a dream world, no one got the runs from the combination of ramen and nachos. ]

All right! Lets go!

Mhm!

[She hopped from her seat and went out into the crowd. There were so many people. But then this was her dream and she willed them all away and suddenly there was nobody but them.

Everything was quiet.

She finally settled in a spot where a large dome was present in the center of some water]

Look there, Naruto.

[She pointed out towards the egg-shaped dome]

[ Naruto plopped down beside her. He lifted his sunglasses up, which pushed a few golden strands straight up on the top of his head. he blinked his blue eyes up at it, then looked at her. ]

Its an egg.

[She giggled]

Keep watching.

[Then the tell tale whistle followed by a BOOM and a flash of light]

The fireworks...

[ Naruto's eyes widened as the fireworks came into view inside of the egg. At first, his look was dumbstruck, before a wide smile split onto his face. ]

Whoaaaaa!!!

[ the fireworks lit up, the sky and starts around them shimming brightly. Naruto threw his arms into the air after a bit. ]

Check out how bright they are!

[She laughed and clapped her hands]

They're really amazing!

[She closed her eyes and bent her head. She curled her middle and ring fingers and brought her hands to her chin]

I wish...that Naruto will be able to fulfill his dreams in being able to protect the ones he cares most about.

[ Naruto didn't hear the wish--he was too busy cheering when a really big and loud firework exploded in the sky. ]

[She smiled to herself and nodded once. Any wish made on these fireworks were bound to come true.

She giggled at his enthusiasm and was content watching him and the fireworks.

She was glad he was enjoying them.]

[Makes the hand motion she did for him to mimic]

Really? Whoa, cool!

[ Naruto easily mimicked the gesture. had to hand it to living in a world where throwing gang signs hand seals were a way of life ]

[ he sat there for a moment, legs crossed, a concentrated look on his face ]

I wish...

[ he paused. ]

...That I can keep seeing you in my dreams, Vanille! And be best friends!

[She smiles brightly and throws her arms around the small blond boy]

I hope so, too, Naruto!

[She squeezes him tightly and gives him a peck on the cheek]

Hehehe...! [ he chuckled nervously, face bright red. it took him a moment to compose himself, and he finally sat up a bit straighter, glancing to her. ]

...This was fun! We should come here again sometime!

We should! But there are sooooo many other places I want to show you, too!

And then there are your dreams that I want to see, Naruto.

[She giggles]

So much dreaming to do! I'd say you should sleep all the time, but you've got a Hokage to become!

[She punches a fist into the air]

Hahaha! I have my whole life to dream!

[ he stood, before grabbing her hands, pulling her up into the air with a spin. ]

Just wait until you see my dreams! Its nothing like Gran Pulse or Cocoon... but it will be fun! Just watch'ttebayo!

[She laughed at being spun around]

I can't wait! And I'll get to have that ramen stuff! And see where you'll be head of!

[She bounced a bit on her toes]

[ Naruto looked towards her--as he did, from his feet upwards he started disappearing. ]

After all... now that I've met you...

[ he offered her a wave, just as the rest of him faded out. ]

...I look forward to working my hardest each day! That way when I go to sleep... I'm here with you!
