[You find yourself in a castle: a large, impressive one, with a moat made out of lava. The inside is just as impressive, if not for the occasional penguin-like creature running through the place.

And one of them is being kicked straight out of one room in particular.]

And don't come back until you get me that pudding from Etna, got it?!

[The penguin replies with a stammered-out "Y-Yes, sir, dood!" and runs off. If you choose to enter the room, you'll find a young boy with two hair antenna sticking up lounging around, watching something while eating popcorn. Whatever it is isn't important, though.

It's the boy, who'll only register your presence after a minute or so. And, even then, it seems as if he's mistaken you for the penguin. And who wouldn't, when their attention is focused on the TV?]

Didn't I tell you not to come back until you got me that pudding?!

[And cue the sword.]

I AM NOT SOME LITTLE PIXIE!!

[And cue hers ready to meet it, shimmering into her hand in a flash of light, cold and translucent ice, though she doesn't attack.]

Calm down before you get hurt.

[He just glares at her before lowering his sword. Hers doesn't seem like much, but she seems like she'd make a good vassal.]

Fine. But let me make this clear for you: I'm the Overlord. I'm not "some little pixie", as you put it. I'm the most powerful demon in the Netherworld. Got it?

Then prove it like I had to do.

[...

That... had not... at all been what she'd meant to say. She'd meant to bait him further, tease him, taunt him. Not that bald, too-honest statement from a girl who had to cut her way into a place in the Dark Kingdom that thought she couldn't be of use.]

Then I will.

[If Ami wanted a battle, then Laharl is more than happy to provide it. He charges towards her, aiming for a Blade Rush.]

[It hadn't been what she'd meant, but she won't back down now that it's started. She's on her feet as their blades lock, TV forgotten.]

Are you sure about this?

Of course I am!

[He is the strongest demon in the Netherworld, after all.]

Attacking someone so recklessly, you won't be ready for the battle.

Ha! I wouldn't be so sure!

[He starts running around her, whipping up a powerful wind that, if Ami isn't careful, just might lift her up into the air.]

[The moment she feels the wind actually lift her up, Ami lets out a cry of surprise and grips her sword more tightly. She gets her bearings quickly, however, and releases a bolt of energy powerful enough to drive three people to the ground at once straight for Laharl.]

[He quickly ducks, making sure his hair antennae is spared, then leaps into the air, raising his sword with the intent of striking her back down to the ground, and hard.]

Here I come!

[He'll have to get to her first. An ethereal harp shimmers into her hand, and the force of the water it conjures with her quick glissando is powerful enough to knock a monster back.]

[And, somehow, it does knock him back, creating a crater in the ground where he falls.

The problem is, this is Laharl we're talking about. Where it would've worked on a youma, he just stands up and readies his sword again, before going in for another charge with a cry of "Die!"]

[Hey, credit where it's due: It'd work on a Phage, too!

All Ami can do is prepare herself for the impact of their blades meeting; hers holds true but the force throws her back against the nearest wall, hard enough that cracks form where she hits with a sickening thud.]

[Ami...may want to watch out again. Laharl, while standing off to the side, has somehow managed to leap up again, leaving a hole in the roof.

[Ami's expression turns grim.]

What is he-?

[She lifts her head to follow him and when she realizes what he's calling down, she stares for just a second before kicking herself into action.]

[She needs to break it up, or slow it down somehow. What can she use...? Her eyes scan the room quickly. Nothing. She makes an impressive aerial somersault to take her out of the way of the impact point.]

HAAAAAAAAAAAH-HAHAHAHAHA!!

[Yes. Yes, he has hijacked a freaking meteor and is now riding on it while laughing maniacally.

And yes, it practically destroys where Ami was once standing, plus some of the surrounding areas (bye, TV! We hardly knew ye). Thank God she isn't standing there now, though, not that he's aware of it.]

Ha! That'll teach her not to mess with me, the great Laharl!

[She's not so foolish as to ruin her advantage by crowing about it before action. Have another wave of energy, Laharl.]

[Then Ami speaks up.]

Over here!

Did you really think I was that weak?

[...Oh, not again. He quickly ducks out of the way before jumping off the meteor and readying his sword once more, while muttering:]

Again?! This is the second time it missed!

[But this isn't the time to dwell upon the past. Oh, no. It's time for attacking.

And that's exactly what he does, charging towards her with the intent to throw her up and into a Nightsever.]

[She puts up a strong parry. Her free hand forms a fist to put more force into the weapon. Then she swings it, creating a vortex of water to hit her opponent.]

[It knocks him back some, but since he's over-leveled, he merely shrugs it off before charging again, this time covering his fist in flames.]
