[You find yourself in a castle: a large, impressive one, with a moat made out of lava. The inside is just as impressive, if not for the occasional penguin-like creature running through the place.

And one of them is being kicked straight out of one room in particular.]

And don't come back until you get me that pudding from Etna, got it?!

[The penguin replies with a stammered-out "Y-Yes, sir, dood!" and runs off. If you choose to enter the room, you'll find a young boy with two hair antenna sticking up lounging around, watching something while eating popcorn. Whatever it is isn't important, though.

It's the boy, who'll only register your presence after a minute or so. And, even then, it seems as if he's mistaken you for the penguin. And who wouldn't, when their attention is focused on the TV?]

Didn't I tell you not to come back until you got me that pudding?!

[Ice would be better for a penguin. In any event, she's only got one answer for the brat watching the TV. Her lips pull back in a calm but not particularly warm smile.]

Get it yourself. I'm not your subordinate.

[Laharl opens his mouth to retort (or probably just kick the Prinny out of the room) before realizing that the Prinny he ordered to get him his pudding (which was rightfully his!) didn't sound like a woman.

He stands up then turns around, fixing her with a glare.]

...Who the hell are you and how did you get here?

[She rests a hand on her hip and seems entirely undaunted as her half-smirk broadens.]

Mizuno Ami.

[She tilts her head, deliberately provoking.]

I thought I'd watch TV with you.

Yeah, well, I meant how did you get in here?!

[As in, how did you get past all of his vassals? He's going to get them replaced for not doing their job right.]

[Yeah she has no intention of being helpful. She's not really kind enough to be worried about the vassals of some guy she still doesn't even know; she'd probably tell him yes he should replace them just to watch the commotion.]

Yeah, right. [His tone is skeptical, but there's an underlying tone of "impressed". After all, quite a few of them are the best ones out there, and a girl--a human, at that--managed to get past them.

There's also a little bit of "hurt pride" somewhere in there, too.]

[Don't mind her, she'll just be ignoring the skepticism to come seat herself right beside Laharl, posture proper as always.]

[Don't mind him either, he'll just be readying his sword in case she's an assassin. There's been some of those ever since he took the throne, but then, what Overlord doesn't have somebody out for their hide?]

[Surprise is evident on his face for a moment. Wait, was he really that obvious? He was trying to keep it hidden!

Then his ego takes over.]

Ha! I'm the Overlord, the strongest demon in the Netherworld! You're a human, you can't possibly defeat me!

[Minato doesn't get yelled at very often anymore, so this takes him aback. He stands nonplussed for a few moments.]

... No. We've never met. [Ever-literal, this is the response he comes up with.]

[It's a moment before Laharl lets that sink in. Then he turns around and readies his sword.]

...Who the hell are you and how did you get in here?!

[Those vassals! "Best in all the land" his foot, they were going to get fired the moment he was done with this assassin!]

[Oh, uh. A sword? Minato has one of those, too, a thin one-handed rapier at his belt, and what looks like a handgun... But he doesn't go for them, just takes a half-step back and raises a hand defensively.]

I'm Minato Arisato. Isn't this where I'm supposed to be? [If he's there, that's where he should be, right? Plus he tries not to explain the dreaming aspect to new people quite so soon.]

[Not any of his vassals, that's for sure.]

We've never met before, so you wouldn't, [he repeats patiently.] Where is this?

[No, he doesn't see any problem with him thinking he's supposed to be somewhere he doesn't recognize.]

[That's the only conclusion he can reach.]

Oh. I'm not an assassin.

[He looks over Laharl for more or less the first time, curious about why someone would want to assassinate him.] I don't really kill anyone.

Then explain to me exactly how did you get past all of my vassals and into my room!

[He's the Overlord, dood. Assassination attempts are common when you're an Overlord.]

Sometimes people don't notice me. [Which is true enough, considering he's dead. He's pretended to be a ghost a few times in peoples' dreams, when they were really convinced it wasn't a dream and he had to have an explanation... Minato wonders if it would work here.]

[Minato doesn't meet a lot of rulers, but this still doesn't phase him very much. In fact, he gains a small smile.] It's nice to meet you. Should I call you Laharl?

[Yes, learning what he wants to be called is far more important than accusations of being an assassin.]
