onepassingnight | [003 ☿] Amusement Park Outing!

Tinny carnival music and excited chatter fill the air along with the mechanical creaking of the typical assortment of rides.

The Juuban amusement park. How many times has she been here? Familiarity doesn't seem to dampen Ami's enthusiasm, even now that she's older. It's a place tied to her subconscious - clearly, as here it is in her dream, and she'd even tried building it with Ariadne once. She smiles brightly, and goes from one entertainment to the next like a child again.

An older couple, their hands joined and both of them clearly very much in love, are never far from sight. They bear a familial resemblance to the young doctor: her parents, never divorced. A whole and loving family, forever. A young girl, almost the very picture of Ami herself, walks with them and calls them Grandma and Grandpa.

"Father has many things to attend to today, but he'll meet us here in an hour," Ami assures her daughter when she has a moment between rides and game booths. A family tradition, she could call it now. She likes that thought. "He always keeps his promises, doesn't he?" Her reward is a broad smile and a nod before the little girl runs off again. Ami, too, seems to trust this promise from her husband as she straightens to her full height and smiles quietly to herself.

(ooc: Anyone who comes is ~~begged~~ welcome to be her dear friend, as her ~perfect dream~ would definitely involve having a lot of friendships. Short version of dream changes: her parents never divorced, she is now married with children and a happy family life herself. She still has success in a rewarding medical career.)

I already know what's next!

[ As if she'd back out; even with no wait, her reaction to seeing the sheer drop at the end is to cover her mouth -- gasping in amazement. ]

We're going to get soaked, aren't we?

[Ami answers that quite cheerfully.] Completely soaked!

[This would be exactly why she didn't wear anything that couldn't get wet. Or messy; amusement parks aren't always completely tidy with so many people running around.]

We go right through the water, and the car will dip into the water a little bit, too.

[ She dips a finger into the flowing water around the log. ] It doesn't feel too cold here, so ... this should be fun! [ As for Aerith's clothing, she checks her ribbon very quickly -- making sure both ribbon itself and the materia inside are secured -- before stepping into the log ride and making room for Ami to join. ]

[Wait. Why was she explaining the rides? Hadn't they been here together before? Ami brushes the nagging doubt off; she's over-thinking, surely.

Instead of worrying about it, she nudges against Aerith as she slips into the car.]

Hold on tightly!

Oh, should I? [ After all, Aerith really has never ridden one before, and it does make sense that it might be a little dangerous ... so she misses any teasing and simply grasps the bar in front tightly as a precaution. ]

[Oh, it's dangerous. But it's safe enough, usually, as long as the riders are careful.]

The car will move fast and many different ways. You don't want to fall out.

[ fffff ]

I won't, I won't!

[ but it doesn't look like she'll let go of the bar soon ]

[The bar is locked in place, Ami holds on properly, and the ride begins to move slowly, slowly up the first, enormous rise.

Very slowly. All that hype turns out to be for a ride you could walk faster than.

Then the hill is crested and the ride plummets down the other side before careening into the first set of turns.]

[ Very slowly. In fact, by the time they've gotten up, Aerith's gotten a bit bored and wondering when this thing will go fast and let go of the bar as she looks over at the side.

Yes, fixing that now. ]

Whoa--!

Don't let go so easily. You don't know what's coming next.

[But the teasing warning comes without bite. Ami's attention is soon focused on joining the rest of the people on the ride in playful screaming as the coaster careens through sharp turns and loops.]

[And then the big drop --!]

I love this...!

[SPLAAAAAASH. They are so wet everywhere.]

[The water soaks her clothes, her hair, everything. She brushes her bangs away from her eyes with a wet hand.]

Want to go again? Or shall we try something else?

One more time, and then the ferris wheel. [ It had grabbed her eye right away in the amusement park. ]

We'll be able to see everything from there!

[If she was the type to tease a bit more, she'd ask if Aerith was sure she wanted to go on the ferris wheel with her instead of with her poorly neglected date.]

[Hey, the same could be asked about Ami leaving her daughter behind... XD]

You've got the idea.

[She left her daughter with said daughter's grandparents.]

It's starting to get dark. We'll see the city at night.

You want to wait?

Just an hour or so. If you don't mind. [...When did she get this nice and polite again?]

Oh, that's so long...! [ She can't help a small pout as she looks up at the ferris wheel. ] Is it really that different?

We can go now, too, if you want.

[Twice isn't bad! Not when it's the ferris wheel, at least. She likes those views, like the views from the city rooftops.]

But everything will be lit at night. [Funny how she can still be attracted to those lights.]

That does sound pretty ... All right. We'll go at night, too. [ It won't take long in a dream. ]

It's a good compromise. [And, more quietly, an excuse to spend more time together with Aerith before they go their separate ways.]

Shall we go, then? [Ami heads right for the ferris wheel to get on; once again, there's no line to wait through, not here.]

Right, let's go! [ And they can enjoy the sights from the top. ]

[Ami sits still in silence as the ferris wheel begins to climb. She looks out across the view and smiles to herself before she finally turns back to Aerith.]

You like this sort of peaceful thing.

You do too. [ Ami did agree to go on this twice. ]
