Mingle Post: Movie Night
Who: Everyone! Open to All
What: "Movie Night" mingle log
When: any time agreed upon by the players
Where: anywhere there might be movies showing: theatres, dvd rooms, homes, drive-ins. also, movie settings.
It's an old, old, story: falling asleep and dreaming of that movie that was playing until just a few moments ago. Maybe taking the part of the hero, maybe the dastardly villain, or maybe even just some side character there to fill a purpose in the plot and no more. It might be a dashing adventure, a passionate drama, a sickly sweet romance - anything at all. But it's playing out right now.
Or maybe the movie is playing up on the screen. There's a comfortable couch at a DVD Room, or a seat at the theatre (amid a crowd, or alone with that special someone at the back of the room), or even just a comfortable chair in a warm, cozy house.
Whatever it may be, movies are the order of the night.
(ooc: This is a post to keep threads together for the Movie Night theme. Separate posts are also fine, and this one is optional. Feel free to be part of a movie, or watching one; if need be, specify in the subject line)

[Ami keeps the gun in her hand, held properly, as she returns to her seat. There, she sets it down safely out of the way before making a few additional notes on the laptop. A glance at the screen shows quite a bit of red font.
She ignores the question of her smile.]

So...[she dramatically tiptoes over, heels clicking on the theater floor] ...who did you say you were writing this for, again?
[RED. so. much. red.] HEY! [it's half a gasp of disbelief, and half a yell of pique] My performance isn't "frivolous"!
cannot stop laughing XD
First of all, you won't influence this review except by your acting.
[This is going to be a fun reveal.]
It's for Kinema Junpo.
[Of course. A top film magazine, and an old one, known for the sort of academic film Ami prefers. A Noir piece like Minako's should be well received there, but something about the way Ami's lips curve slyly upward suggests the write-up may not be favorable.]

[do you see this face, Ami. it's hurt. so hurt. and her hurt eyes are so big and filling with tears.]
no subject
Crocodile tears.
Hmph.]
Why blame me for your performance? I'll write what I saw.
[Clearly, this dream is Mina's residual performing nerves made manifest.]

That performance was INCREDIBLE! How dare you! I put my heart and soul into that movie, it's my first producer credit! What do you know about acting anyway?!
no subject
[Yeah, cheap dig. It's like she can't help herself. But it had been acting, all that so-called friendship, and it's the true prejudice making her see this performance through negative eyes, too - not Mina's skill, but that her mind will call it all 'obvious' acting.]
no subject
[speaking of acting, melodramatic inflection with eyeroll to match.]
Even if you call that acting, it's not even remotely the same kind! [waving frantically at the screen behind her]

So you expect a favorable review, because we happened to know each other so long ago? There's no reason for that, either.
