Mingle Post: Movie Night

Where: anywhere there might be movies showing: theatres, dvd rooms, homes, drive-ins. also, movie settings.

It's an old, old, story: falling asleep and dreaming of that movie that was playing until just a few moments ago. Maybe taking the part of the hero, maybe the dastardly villain, or maybe even just some side character there to fill a purpose in the plot and no more. It might be a dashing adventure, a passionate drama, a sickly sweet romance - anything at all. But it's playing out right now.

Or maybe the movie is playing up on the screen. There's a comfortable couch at a DVD Room, or a seat at the theatre (amid a crowd, or alone with that special someone at the back of the room), or even just a comfortable chair in a warm, cozy house.
Whatever it may be, movies are the order of the night.

"It's how humans have become," Ami said, allowing her own prejudice to show. "They prefer this to something challenging."

As for the reviews, advertising was like that, too. Focus on the positive, blot out the negative, hope the viewer fell for it and thought the positive was all there was to it.

"They consider it an achievement of technology," she mentioned as another explosion blotted out most of the screen. She couldn't resist surprising her counterpart even more. The special effects for this movie were definitely what would be considered high-budget.

"An achievement? More like a travesty!" The princess was clearly beside herself, even as she munched on more popcorn. "It has absolutely no depth, no character development, not even a plot. It's merely been scenes of violence and explosions occasionally interrupted by lovemaking sessions that are interrupted by more explosions!"

She took a deep breath. "Whoever made this drivel needs flogged. Repeatedly. In the face."

Those words had weight, coming from a princess whose word would be enough to order it. Ami shot her a sidelong glance.

"Walk out, if you want," she suggested. She wasn't particularly attached to it herself. There should be a better option in one of the other rooms, one to suit their tastes. "I'll also come."
