008 || tea for two?

Zack's strength of mind hasn't been at its peak lately, which may explain his absence from the consciousness of others.

As it was, the former SOLDIER was secluded in a web of emerald wisps and crystals, cocooned in the center by an even thicker web and two white wings surrounding his form. His eyes were closed, head bowed, the rest of his body also concealed by the maze of webs. So he... hasn't been able to meld himself entirely cohesive yet, but he's getting there. There's no telling what the rest of his body looks like, trapped in that mess.

If you dare to approach, he'll glance up briefly, quietly. He's studying you, wanting to know the reasons why you would come deep into the Lifestream like this, to talk to a forgotten, deceased SOLDIER.

And he'll welcome the company.

[He says it like a name.] Meteor?

[Lethe has never heard of any senshi by that name - her first thought, as senshi are always named for the celestial objects they were born under.]

Who is it?

To her, it can be both. She is the soldier born under the protection of planet Lethe, and she is planet Lethe - or was, when she was still the carrier of its star seed.

"My planet was destroyed some time ago," she says simply. Sometimes fate - or a greater power - happens anyway.

She is not nearly as resigned as she sounds; but what choice did they have?

Oh, Zack. A part of her knows it can't even be called existing: living at the whim of the very person who took her planet away, serving her as if she's a queen to be respected. Well, Lethe can respect strength. She can also be compelled by necessity.

"Every planet in the galaxy will face the same end." That, she believes.

So naive. Those words alone tell her he's never had to make those hard decisions, never had to weigh one evil against the other because they were still the only possible futures.

"Even if," she asks, half taunting and half serious, "It meant the death of all your friends as well, and yours, too?"

Her eyes narrow and her expression changes from taunting to disgust. He would spit on and throw away the one worthwhile thing.

Well, let him. She, at least, knows where power, and thus value, lies. She knows to treasure the incarnations that let them stay alive and make their powers eternal.

"So you had your glorious end, while accomplishing nothing," she taunts. "Like this, powerless, you can do no more."

"You've accomplished nothing," Lethe points out. "Everything goes on without you. Clinging to your worthless memories and body instead of your power, you've lost what you could do here."

"The cauldron has nothing to do with our memories. Those are already gone in my river. What the cauldron leaves are our powers, to carry into the next incarnation." This is the order of her world, and she finds it difficult to accept a different order.

"Death also moves the same." And she is far closer to it than to life, as the vigilant guard of its very passage. Those with power, yes, those move to a new life; but even then, what is past is done and over and forgotten. The unnatural life Zack lives now is even already fading, she notes in the detached part of herself that has never invested much in the process.
