008 || tea for two?
Zack's strength of mind hasn't been at its peak lately, which may explain his absence from the consciousness of others.
As it was, the former SOLDIER was secluded in a web of emerald wisps and crystals, cocooned in the center by an even thicker web and two white wings surrounding his form. His eyes were closed, head bowed, the rest of his body also concealed by the maze of webs. So he... hasn't been able to meld himself entirely cohesive yet, but he's getting there. There's no telling what the rest of his body looks like, trapped in that mess.
If you dare to approach, he'll glance up briefly, quietly. He's studying you, wanting to know the reasons why you would come deep into the Lifestream like this, to talk to a forgotten, deceased SOLDIER.
And he'll welcome the company.

And then, the entity smirks. Perhaps a trace of who he'd used to be, or an attempt at regaining his old self.
"There's still too much to do before I take a nap. Meteor's gonna return soon."

[Lethe has never heard of any senshi by that name - her first thought, as senshi are always named for the celestial objects they were born under.]
Who is it?

He felt the need to correct her, even if Meteor was some sort of entity. Even if it was, he didn't feel the need to acknowledge it as such. He just knew that it was a terrible, destructive force that either needed to be evaded or destroyed somehow, a way not even the Planet was sure of right then and there.
"It's a terrible danger to the Planet. It's... afraid." And that fear, in turn, was reflecting into his own energy. He felt its sadness, its pain... and he wanted to do whatever he could to make it stop.
"But it's also in good hands. I'm sure of it."

"My planet was destroyed some time ago," she says simply. Sometimes fate - or a greater power - happens anyway.
She is not nearly as resigned as she sounds; but what choice did they have?

Whether you're from Gaia, or somewhere else in the solar system, you're eventually affected by Jenova's influence somehow. But it's simply the fact that she had taken entire planets in her destruction that swells up something inside of him. Anger? Determination? Regret? The futile notion that he should have been there, even though it was impossible.
"...I'm sorry to hear that." Is the most he can offer.
Though he himself had passed, he wouldn't wish a new apocalypse upon everyone else who was still alive. That was why Meteor had to be stopped. And if they couldn't do it, then he would find a way to help, however he could. "No doubt a whole bunch of other worlds are in the same boat as you. And... it's hard. It really is."
With the exception of his parents, and several others, he'd lost quite a few close people in his life as well.
"But you're still existing. Aren't you?"
no subject
"Every planet in the galaxy will face the same end." That, she believes.

He had to admit, he never could get into anything philosophical like this in life, being at ShinRa's beck and call and believing whatever they told him. But he knew better now, that the Planet hadn't immediately sent him into Oblivion for all he'd done. He was thankful to it, and felt an unexplainable urge to protect it until its true time came.
"If someone's going to deliberately take the Planet's life before its time, I'll be there to stop it. Even in death."
no subject
"Even if," she asks, half taunting and half serious, "It meant the death of all your friends as well, and yours, too?"
no subject
"I'm already too lost to be saved." It's a simple, practiced response. "--but when the Planet's end comes, everyone else would have lived long, healthy lives. And when their time comes, it'll be peaceful and fulfilled. That's the kind of ending I want."
He shifts a little, uncomfortable. "Much better than one friend never having the chance to die. To come back again and again just to be insane. He'll... he'll never get to have peace."
no subject
Well, let him. She, at least, knows where power, and thus value, lies. She knows to treasure the incarnations that let them stay alive and make their powers eternal.
"So you had your glorious end, while accomplishing nothing," she taunts. "Like this, powerless, you can do no more."
no subject
And he was trying to rebuild himself, before that happened. There was still too much to do, to guide, to save the Planet and everything on it even if he didn't have a tangible body. But at the same time, he knew his place. And he respected it. To change the course of nature and throw everything out of whack wasn't worth it when he had no cause to.
"I'm accomplishing everything."
no subject

"So throwing those away would be moot, don't you think?"

The next time she looks at him, she'll find his entire eyes, pupil and all, searing with a deep blue energy. He's almost entirely immersed into this dimension now, becoming a part of it, fusing with the planet and readying his soul to be reused into the next cycle.
"I have, so why can't you? Life moves the same as it has for billions of years, maybe even beyond that."

"Things work different here. When we die, life moves on. In fact... it's like we never die at all. Our existence changes." Again he smiles, warm and welcoming. "Existence just keeps on changing."
