Report IV: Fountain Pen

Interrogations were rarely something pleasant to have to go through, ones with the Turks were usually terrifying and one that needed Tseng's personal attention rarely ended with laughter and a cup of coffee. Hopefully this one wouldn't end with maintenance having to patch a bullet hole in a wall again.

There wasn't much in the thin file he held as he watched the person through a mirrored window. So little, in fact, that it bothered him. No matter, there was certainly enough to start off with. He nodded, shooting a glance at the person beside him before entering the room.

Hopefully this wouldn't take more than a few hours, he really didn't want to be in the office until the sun came back up.

This is new for her. However, she is confident they can do what they need to. There's no escape in this room, no chance of running. That's all they really need. Their prey has found nothing but dead ends, now.

Ami's reviewed as much of the file as she's been given, of course. She's frowned at it and tried to fill in the blanks, to make guesses about the right approach for today. She comes to stand beside Tseng. Without preamble, she speaks.

"Anything else before we begin?"

Funny that it comes down to this. She'd expected to be killed instead, so apparently there's still some use for her if she's sitting here, chilly in the cold room instead of her hot desert river, waiting to be...

Killed after all? No; they'd have done it sooner than this. Tortured? Quite possibly. But why? She can't figure out the reasoning.

She has plenty of time to think about it. Each second crawls by like an hour. She casts a few looks at the door; surely someone must come soon. She wishes Mnemosyne were here, except that she's glad Mnemosyne is - apparently - safely escaped.

he would. XD

There are ways to cut people without making them bleed, to make them twitch and writhe in pain without leaving a single mark. She knows them. She's done them, seen them done, and had them done to her. She'll never forgive the last.

"Understood." She glances to the door. "Shall we go in?"
drinkandforget: (i won't let you go further)

I am the sweetest of muns.

She's not fooled by the approach, she tells herself. But the truth is, having expected a sudden and brutal end if it ever went this far, she is taken aback by the surprise of such a different outcome.

"Say what you have to say," she says brusquely.

there is no ridiculous part :|

He can want a lawyer.

"Let's begin," Ami says brusquely, all business, and ignoring the complaints, as she enters. She slips into the room just ahead of Tseng as he opens the door. She takes a seat; she plans to be comfortable for this.

He can want a lawyer.

The actions were certainly suspicious. They needed to know just where it was leading, in time to take countermeasures if necessary - no, as necessary.

"First of all, don't pretend to be stupid. I don't like it." He'd better come to his own conclusions about why he's here. She gives him only one lead.

"Want to tell us where the rest is?" She lets it imply they've already found damning proof, while being vague enough to let him fill in the details himself - with more than they actually know.

Things click into a different place. But she still doubts a simple paperwork error merits this.

She tells herself it doesn't feel like the over-mighty bureaucracy of tyranny. She searches her brain for a way to come up with the papers.

Then it occurs to her: What is she being afraid for? She has always carried out her duty. She has not betrayed, or double-crossed (except in her dreams).

"Are you sure you remembered to look in the right place?" There's just a little emphasis on 'remembered' - and a tiny nudge of her power to try to make him question it himself.
waterfell: (ami 悪 you're my prey)

never. it is quite stunning.

Ami smiled pleasantly, brightly.

Then she brought up her hand. Dark energy streamed from it to her victim's body, enough to cut into him, to locate the nerve centers and enhance the mind-numbing pain. She knows right where to target, after all. And she can wait all day.

It's going to be a lot more pleasant of a wait for her, than for him. He never should have made that sexist remark.

What should that mean to her? They evidently have the manpower to get her in here, but whatever they're after is nothing to her. Less than nothing; the Turks will be swallowed up eventually, like everyone else, the same fate that drove her to this one.

To this fate. She's betrayed. Has someone set this up to pay her back for it? Well, it's fine. She can weather it out, and find Mnemosyne later.

"You'd get better answers if you asked without all this," she notes.
waterfell: (mercury ☿ changed sides)

pffft. XD

Still irritable, the halt earned Tseng a sour look; but no direct objection. After another glance at the man - whatever his name true name might be - she settled back in her seat for Tseng to take the lead.

"If I'd known it was monitored, I wouldn't be there." She was starting to relax. This apparently had nothing to do with what she'd been afraid of at all, and genuine innocence... is a lot easier to maintain than trying to hide those sparks of wishing Galaxia was different.

Ami's smile stayed pleasant, which was to say threatening. Though she didn't like Tseng's reminder, the outburst would now serve as a warning of what could happen.

She wouldn't need hours.

"I want to hear all about it!" she piped up brightly.
drinkandforget: (the one thing to hold on to)

[personal profile] drinkandforget 2012-03-01 06:02 am (UTC)(link)
She had no answer. How could she? She'd never seen anything like that. Now that he's focusing her attention on it, she can't really recall what came before finding herself in this room at all.

It can't be amnesia; she may disclaim the value of memories, but it'd be too ironic even for Fate to rob the senshi of Oblivion of hers. Then... What?

Only one thing seemed to matter much. "Where's Mnemosyne?"
waterfell: (ami ♍ ohaiyo tsukino-san!)

Don't criticize him. Only she gets to yell when it's about him :|

"You realized it!" Ami acted like a teacher praising a pupil who'd finally gotten the answer right. Come on, take the next step: Why would the Turks be interested?

More hints. "Tell us about the materia, and the money. We have records already, so it'd be good to tell the whole truth, Ok?"
