[ Report I ] Hearts and Stars

Tseng smiled thinly as he watched the surprisingly large group gathered in one of Shin-Ra's ballrooms, he'd never realized quite how many people considered him family whether they were actually related or not. There was a smattering of brothers and sisters along with their kids, people he couldn't remember seeing but were somehow actually related to him and had come to congratulate him. Turks were there, of course, new ones who were just beginning to learn how to tie their ties and old ones who'd retired before his time.

He'd given a speech; speaking of loyalty and camaraderie, that they'd only need to call and he'd put his tie back on and be out the door for them. Once a Turk, always a Turk and he'd never abandon them or the tiny group of relatives he'd recently been informed of still having.

He knew he should talk to them, approach them and say something but he didn't know a thing about any of them these days. Family had been the company for nearly twenty years now, and while blood was thicker than water he'd shed an awful lot of it alongside the Turks.

It was awkward.

[OOC: Tseng's dreaming of his retirement party, and there's newly discovered family in attendance.]

In a way, Yuffie is glad to see him be a little off. It was different, considering Tseng was usually so collected and calm about most things. Professional fit him to a T, and to know he was part of her family, born to Godo no less, made her want to have chuckle fits.

Now wasn't the time - she was definitely going to take advantage of this alcohol offer. No telling how long it would last.

"Whatever's available I'm not picky," she declares, even though the truth is she doesn't know enough about drinks to be picky.

"Besides, I'm sure Godo's just happy to have a kid who isn't a total circus. At least he knows it isn't his DNA that made me the kickass ninja I am today."

She was still leery of the Turks in general, but she wasn't going to show it. Wutai wasn't fully recovered, and there was no telling if it would ever recover. It was something she still held close to her, that resentment to the whole of Shinra for what happened.

"He just wants to marry me off to the first doofus with a big wallet," she whines a bit saying this, but she knows that if push came to shove she could certainly push Godo out of her way as she left Wutai in a full on sprint.

"Besides, fighting WEAPONs and running around with a terrorist group made things more fun! At least we didn't have to wear a uniform." Because clearly her tank top / short shorts combo works such wonders for her rail thin form.

Yuffie is surprisingly obedient following him to the bar, her excitement over the chance to get drunk overcoming all other things in her mind. She wouldn't let herself overdo it, of course. Even if she is a bit wild, she isn't a total ass. So hanging upside down from any available chandeliers is out for now.

"I can have a couple of drinks and still be functionally drunk!" This is a proud declaration on her part - she'd been sneaking alcohol since she was very young, and had a small tolerance to it. Considering the alcohol she could get a hold of when she was young was anything homemade and disgusting, she could probably tolerate drinking pure acid at this point.

His Rufus comment was met with a wrinkled nose from Yuffie. She wasn't even going to acknowledge that one, for fear of her father hearing it and actually getting the idea in his head.

Wouldn't that be something?

"Yeah yeah, Turks do things better than everyone else. From creating terrorist groups to drinking," she took her glass and downed a gulp of it. It was a little tart, but she wasn't going to make a face like she really wanted to.

Yuffie considered his statement a challenge, and gave Tseng look. One that clearly stated her intentions - to try to out drink him. Instead of saying so out loud, she tipped back her glass and drank the rest of it, grinning at Tseng once she was finished.

"Look at that I'm all done."

"Details details," Yuffie hand-waved his facts away. "I'm going to get another drink."

And she does - she was a little surprised that they handed it to her so readily, but she doesn't complain. Taking the glass, she sipped it slower than before.

"And yes, I could taste it properly. I'm used to to the stuff that will eat your stomach lining, so this is kinda like fruit juice to me." She peered at him over her glass. "Say, do you ever get drunk anyway?"
