001; Wutai
On the mountain of Da Chao sits a lone girl, her legs swinging off the ledge as she contemplates the town below.
It's her home - Wutai, a once proud nation that has been reduced to nothing more than a cheesy tourist attraction. By none other than her father, a man she doesn't exactly get along with in the best of times.
Something's off though.
Yuffie squints as she studies the town, telling herself her eyes must be deceiving her.
Usually there are people strolling through the town, children playing tag in the streets. The ones who had recently been infected with Geostigma are recovering, and there is a jovial air about the town. Now, though, there is no sign of life. Not even a stray dog roaming through, begging for scraps.
This just isn't right, and Yuffie has to investigate.
Standing up, she brushes the dirt off her legs, then plants her fists at her hips.
"Only one person can get to this bottom of this mess!"
She pauses without looking back, shifting her weight as if she wants to fidget.
"You can come too. Having an extra pair of eyes wouldn't hurt," she says this with a little hesitation. The truth is, she's a little bit worried at the absence of people, and could use a little support as she tries to find them.

It howls in anger, and writhes on the ground for a moment before it starts to fade away. Yuffie takes a closer look at the wound on her arm, scowling at it.]
Dammit. [She starts to poke at it as the enemy continues to fade, looking pretty grumpy about the whole thing.] That hurt like hell, I thought this was a dream.

Ifrit finally fades away, and Yuffie huffs out a breath.]
You know, I can't believe I dreamed up such a crappy summon. I figured something awesome, like Kings of the Round.

I'll bandage the arm.
[This is not exactly an offer so much as a statement of what will come next, giving Yuffie less chance to refuse.]

She studies Mercury for a moment before she remembers the kind of attack she saw the girl us.]
Say, I haven't seen anyone use attacks like that before. I guess you have magic without the materia huh? Not a lot of people get that where I come from.

[This is the only explanation Yuffie receives as Mercury eyes the wounds, judging their severity before beginning her work.]

[Yuffie gazes around as Mercury works, looking out for any sign of life or movement. She does spy a random chocobo feather on the ground, but it was probably from that idiotic bird from before. ]

Next she'll bandage it.]

Looking out in the distance, she tries to nitpick her own brain. Why would she dream this? Way too many unanswered questions for her.]
So if I die here, I wake up and all right? No actual dying in actual life?
no subject
They say if you die in a dream, you die in reality.
Want to be careful?
no subject
Nah, I've been in life threatening situations countless times! This would totally not be different.

Then don't worry over whether you can die.

Okay okay, I'll charge into battle and emerge victorious. Just like always!
[She'd pump her arm in the air to jazz up her statement but there's a sharp pain reminding her of the wound and she settles for energetically bouncing on her toes.
