003 | believe me |

[ Wherever you are in your dreams tonight, you'll notice a particularly odd looking blue box with a man standing outside of it. His hands are in his pockets as he leans against it, grinning, looking at the landscape of the dream, which is fashioned to your liking. A city, hills, perhaps even just an open field or even a ship at sea. Tonight, the dream is shaped to your liking! ]

(( ooc: If we've talked things for the event this month, feel free to throw it in the subject! otherwise, no-event Eleven post. :D ))

[Somehow they've moved away from the truly dangerous territory, but she still disagrees.

She is not beloved, or sheltered and protected, or lucky; she does not wake from dreams into smiles and happiness. Her dreams, at best, are an escape.]

When I wake up from this dream, I'll never have come here right now. I'll never have been at the glacier.

None of this is real.

Are you saying you don't know the difference between dreams and reality?

[Obviously, he does - or should; and that's why he should understand the futility.]

[That much is true; ideas, solutions to problems, those can still occur in a world entirely in the mind.]

Even then, it's the effort we make in reality that acts on those thoughts.

[identity profile] waterfell.livejournal.com 2011-07-31 08:16 pm (UTC)(link)
So making that effort is choosing not to do it?

[It's now, now that she's calming herself, now that they aren't talking about the things that infuriate her, that she realizes it: After all that, even after telling him to get out, he's still here.

And somehow, she's not offended by that, only bewildered. When it's her, even if she's kind - especially when she's kind - people don't stay for her.

Finally, she changes the subject again, and asks it.]

Why are you still here?

[Hasn't she already debunked that?

But when he smiles, she finds she has to consciously remind herself not to trust it. And so, predictably, she lashes out by belittling it this time.]

What a worthless word.

[She makes a sound that might be derisive, and certainly has a tinge of bitterness.]

How many years has it been since I called someone that?

I was fifteen.

[And her nineteenth birthday is drawing close in another month. She just can't do it, not after what happened the first and last time she thought she'd finally found people to call friends.]
