.oo1 // All the knowledge in the world
[ You find yourself in a library. Not just any library but a massive one: wall to wall bookshelves, plush armchairs, mahogany floorboards and the entire thing lit with a warm flame that seems almost comforting. The kind that doesn't seem to give off a dangerous heat but perhaps the warmth that reminds one of home and hearth. The books on the shelves are quite anything you want them to be: catalogues, bestiaries, your diaries, anything you ever wished to read, wished to know or wished to find out.
Among these shelves and books in a man dressed in long deep blue robes, almost black as night. He paces, taking books off the shelves, and flipping through them, occasionally commenting on the side and seemingly talking to himself. But there are other books in his hands, these being used to fill empty spots in some shelves. He seems to be looking for something, or perhaps merely setting some books in order. For all you know, he could be doing both. At any rate, he is quite at home here, amongst the books, shelves and bare light. Again, the conversation resumes in a strange language perhaps alien to your ears. Upon one bookshelf is another figure that seems to be merely a shimmer in the air and he seems to be doing most the talking while the man in the robe nods and comments from time to time. However, in the middle of a sentence, he stops and turns. His voice seems low, barely heard and in a more familiar language. ]
Looks like we have company, Aids.
Ah?
[ And with that, the figure is gone and the other man is left amongst the books and firelight, holding a rather thick volume to his chest and clutching a staff with his other hand. ]

So... for a second, he's just as frozen. ]
Can... can I help you with something?

[ Bit of a smirk. Maybe that's the only thing they had in common. But on to the matter at hand. The word seems alien to him. ]
Robotics... we... may have something close to it concerning mechanics that came from across the sea. Maybe that's the best I can offer?
no subject
Oh. Huh. Well, I might as well look at what you got. Since I'm here and all. Where would these mechanics books be, if you have them?
ageswap = princess Mercury!
She startles gracefully when she spots Adrian, but covers it smoothly by turning the motion into a slow nod.]
I fear I intrude upon your library. Please forgive me. Is it alright to stay awhile?
Re: ageswap = princess Mercury!
You're welcome to this place. It's not really what I'd call an intrusion. Anything you need?
if only i'd known. XD i was doing bb!Ami for ageswap stuff too sometimes
No. I am interested in the books. [She thinks a moment.] Do you know where some are about nature?
XD He just likes kids.
[ He pauses a moment, glancing around. ]
Flora, fauna, interesting rest spots, geography... I think we've got something around that in here. Name it.
no subject
The local flora. I would be interested in that.

[ A moment as he shelves the book he was holding. ]
You know, you remind me of someone. A friend of mine.
[ Bit of a soft laugh as he motions for her to follow. ]
no subject
If I remind you of a friend, I am very flattered. May I ask about them?
no subject
[ There is the smallest nostalgic smile as he leads her to one of the bookshelves. ]
Taught herbology... and of course, was rather fond of plants. Very, rather. A quiet lady... I think you two would've gotten along.

[Of course, in reality, she has few friends even now - the senshi, perhaps, the ones who bear the same fate as her and grew up just as she did. But most people who approach the Princess of planet Mercury do so with an eye to their own advantage and advancement.
She knows this. It makes her wary of them. But today, this is not someone who approached her; this is a situation where she came upon someone to ask their help.]
Ah. Are these books up to date? The latest research?
no subject
[ And he stops at a bookshelf, picking out a few selections. Some seem to be photograph collections of local flowers, a couple others to be almost almanacs of them. ]
The latest as gathered by the Academe.

[A quick nod towards the windows, indicating the outdoors. She sounds rather more excited than one might expect about this.]
Where I am from, we have beautiful flowers, too. But they are all grown in a greenhouse, so to speak. Seeing flowers that just grow from the soil, outside, is a wonderful thing.
no subject
So when he sees the man in the robes, he offers a sheepish smile. Not the best impression for a librarian, huh? But hopefully the man wouldn't mind.] Um... excuse me? Hope I'm not interrupting anything, but I was hoping you could help.
no subject
Not really the most sociable guy on the planet but he'll try. ]
Nothing to interrupt. Anything I can do?
no subject
After running his hand through his hair- and thereby making sure he looks human and presentable- Teddy's grin widens a little.] This is probably going to sound a little stupid, but... I'm looking for a book. The only problem is that I don't know what it looks like or where it is. So... I was hoping you could help me.
[A pause, then he quickly adds something else, before he forgets.] If you don't mind. I kind of assume this is your library, so...
no subject
It's the family's library really but everyone's welcome to it. There's so much in here that we thought it'd be better to share it with anyone.
[ And a bit of a sheepish grin. ]
Yeah, I kinda get that too sometimes. Maybe if you toss me a few subjects, we can find it?
no subject
Now... to ask. The other guy's been helpful so far, and who knows, maybe he can help. At the least, maybe talking about it will help Teddy remember. So he leans back a little and gnaws at his lip, brow furrowing in concentration as he tries to remember.] I... think it's something about the Skrull Empire. Or maybe the Kree.
[A pause, then he sighs. What is he doing?] Sorry, if this is a family library, you probably don't have anything about aliens, huh?
no subject
[ A pause. The words are a bit unfamiliar to him. ]
You said something about aliens? What sort?
[ Mention alien to this guy and he's mostly thinking of the illegal sort that don't have any migration papers. ]
no subject
[A pause, then he speaks again. It's a long shot, but... he's starting to get an impression of what he's really looking for. That's better than normal, for his track record.] The Skrull have a royal family, I was hoping to find something about that.
