[ The dream tonight is a rather empty one, compared to the brilliant things that people could find themselves in. A simple beach surrounded by mountains, clear blue skies and a deep blue lake, and a small picnic area set to the side. The moon can be seen, despite it being day, rippling in the water. By the waterfront is an old station wagon, and of course the Doctor. He stands with his hands in his pockets, staring out over the restless waters, with his back to the dreamer.

He seems older than normal. He doesn't look a day older, but his shoulders are sagged and his head held as if he were carrying burdens upon burdens of the universe - similar to Atlas. With a deep sigh, he tilts his head back and looks up at the sky. ]

(ooc: This is Future!Eleven for the time event! As explained in the ooc post, it means this is the Eleven we see from the beginning of Impossible Astronaut as opposed to the Eleven from The Doctor's Wife. Your character doesn't need to be affected by the event to tag him, but Eleven will be acting as if he has known your character for nearly two hundred years~ )

Oh, uhh, ok. Let me think... What about dancing? I love to dance.

I am very good at that. I think. [ Does drunken giraffe count? ]

[No. No it does not, as Christine will inform him if he does it.]

Great! Do you have a place in mind?

[This was much better than talking about impeding death, after all.]

There was this nice little dance hall in the 20s I knew...

Which 20s? [She's from the 23rd Century, y'know, Doctor.]

1920s. [ He smiles. ] Up for some time travel?

[She knows it's just a dream, so it's not so much time travel as his imagination, but she nods eagerly all the same.]

Yes! We can do the-- the-- Charleston, that's it!

We could! [ The Doctor offers his arm. ]

[She takes it eagerly.]

[ He raises his other hand, snapping his fingers. The area around them glistens and suddenly they are standing in a dance hall of the 1920s. ]

[She takes it all in, grinning.] May I have this dance?

You may certainly. [ The Doctor holds his hand out, then raises the other, preparing to take the right stance for the dance. ]

[She takes his hand and moves into position.] You want to lead?

The man usually does--or is that in your future?

[She laughs softly.] It's still usually the men who lead, but sometimes the women do if they want to. I'll do either.

Might be best if you do.

Sounds good. Here we go. [She slowly moves forward, giving him time to step back so she doesn't step on his feet.]

[ It takes him a few moments, but he eases perfectly into the dance. Like an old friend. ]

[She leads them around the dance floor, smiling at him. This is a much better past time than standing in the desert thinking about death.]

Where did you learn to dance?

Well I took ballet for years and years, and picked up some ballroom on the side. You?

Eleven lifetimes is a long time to learn everything and anything.

Well don't you have any stories about learning to dance? Anything funny, or exciting?

Trying to teach two alien humans how to dance in Frank Sinatra's lodge in 1950...
