[Jade is at his desk, which is a welcome change. He hasn't been able to sit at his desk in his office in months, or what feels like months, thanks to an extended stay in the magical musical city of Elegy. Yes, a very welcome change from dealing with irritating employees and the constant music. So welcome, in fact, that he's actually dreaming about it.]

[Looking back, it's probably one of the better dreams he's ever had.]

[He is reading through the stack of reports and memos that have accumulated since he left for Kimlasca (for the Harmony seems to have put his life on hold right as he went on a week-long vacation), alone in his office at the Malkuth Imperial Forces' headquarters in Grand Chokmah. It's a tidy place, save for the corner nearest the door that His Majesty's pet rappigs like. He really would see about getting it cleaned up, but it would be a futile effort. He seems almost oblivious to the presence of another person in the room... seems being the key word.]

[And what's this? You seem to have yet another report for him. Won't you give it to him?]

[Jade looks up and, for just a fraction of a second, gives Cain a look that would put a basilisk to shame. He quickly adjusts his glasses, hiding his eyes behind the glare.]

Just leave it on my desk. [He gestures vaguely toward the stack of papers toward his left.]

[Damn. Is this just another trick of the Harmony? Did he really return to Malkuth, or is he still in the city?]

[Cain chuckles nervously. Is it getting colder in here...? Nevertheless he's setting it down.]

Everything okay?

Everything is fine, Cain. [Except that you're somehow in his office. He remains eerily calm, even so.]

Thank you. Why don't you run along now? I'm afraid that there's very little that should keep you here.

Ah... well I'd like to but, you see... [Cain pauses for a good minute before grabbing onto Jade's shoulder.]

I have no idea where I am! What if scary people are outside that door, Jade?! Who will protect me?!

[Eew, physical contact. He brushes away Cain's hand.]

You're in my office, at the Imperial Forces headquarters in Grand Chokmah. If you're so worried about what's outside, perhaps I should call in a couple of soldiers to escort you to a holding cell.

[He's joking about that, right?]

[Cain shakes his hands.] Jade we both know I can't handle a life in prison! What would my poor little sister think of me?

I can't say for certain that she would be more impressed with you for being afraid of a new city.

[He shuffles the papers he was reading and sets them in a neat pile on his desk, then turns his attention back to Cain.]

Anyway, there's a much larger problem at hand. Why are you here? The train should have returned you to your own world, not to Auldrant.
