[002] Doctor's Hours
This is a waiting room inside a large hospital, comfortably furnished and provided with a mixture of medical journals and fashion magazines. After a reasonable wait, a bustling nurse calls out the appointments, everyone who arrives. "Doctor Mizuno will see you now."
Inside the doctor's office, bookshelves line every wall, packed with heavy textbooks. Doctor Mizuno, remarkably young for her title (youngest in her world, it's rumored) sits behind the sturdy desk with a quiet, self-satisfied smile. She's wanted to be in this place for so long; the thrill of finally achieving it hasn't worn off even in dreams. It's enough to make her smile in the faces of the people who think she's only here because of her mother's famous name, and go about showing them how wrong they are by her results.
"How are you feeling today?" she asks her patient.

"Please allow me to take your vital signs." Temperature, heart rate, pulse... Ami drew near with stethoscope and blood pressure cuff at the ready.

"Some former members of Romafeller recommended you," she stated. "Did you happen to treat my late grandfather, Duke Dermail?"
no subject
"No, I didn't have that honor," the doctor answered as she slipped the stethoscope beneath the inflated cuff. She slowly opened the dial before glancing up again to widen her smile at Dorothy.
"Want another guess?" She, of course, remembered their meeting; and though she was slipping it behind the comfortable facade, it rankled that she was still unmemorable herself.

"Not worth the effort."

Then the moment passed.
"As you wish!" Ami returned pleasantly enough. She removed the cuff as she finished, and continued on with the thermometer.

"Overcompensation is so unbecoming. Are we done?"

She forced a smile.
"For someone whose bedside manner needs work, you're better than most of my physicians."

"I stick by my opinions. Besides, should any misfortune befall me after this check-up, you'll just have to be put to blame, won't you?"
no subject
She paused, and added, "My responsibility is to defeat any difficulties that arise from it and make sure they can do whatever they wish despite it, if they choose to seek treatment from me."
no subject
"Semantics. That's what lawyers are for."
no subject
"More importantly, why is it you don't want to be here? Are you afraid I'll tell you to stop your activities?"
no subject
She merely maintained her smirk, unruffled.
"Hardly. Doctor's advice or not, I do as I please. Loopholes are rampant in regulations that may seek to prevent me from doing as I wish. Again, that's what lawyers are for."
She didn't look down upon the medical profession, simply despised it for being such an impediment.
NOW sleep. XD /silly LJ, work
... Making sure Kunzite hadn't fought a difficult opponent while he was still faint from blood loss was different, and she had paid for it when he hurt her for obstructing him. Still, that, she had fought for and won by the simple practical fact she was right: It was foolish to do it at that particular moment. Kunzite knew how to bide his time, no matter how much he might dislike it.
"So let's make sure it's not a problem at all. There are a few endurance and stress tests I want to run you through before I tell you to go ahead." As Dorothy was capable of piloting in her condition, they shouldn't be a problem.
Late tag is late. x_X
Defiance hadn't worked so compliance with contempt was another route to take.
No worries!

She stepped on and engaged in the vigorous run required for the next few minutes. No breathing problems, her heart thumped as it should and no duress. Barely a sweat broken.
Between shallow gasps, she managed to get in...
"Will that suffice?"
no subject
"All clear," she says in English.
