[002] Doctor's Hours

This is a waiting room inside a large hospital, comfortably furnished and provided with a mixture of medical journals and fashion magazines. After a reasonable wait, a bustling nurse calls out the appointments, everyone who arrives. "Doctor Mizuno will see you now."

Inside the doctor's office, bookshelves line every wall, packed with heavy textbooks. Doctor Mizuno, remarkably young for her title (youngest in her world, it's rumored) sits behind the sturdy desk with a quiet, self-satisfied smile. She's wanted to be in this place for so long; the thrill of finally achieving it hasn't worn off even in dreams. It's enough to make her smile in the faces of the people who think she's only here because of her mother's famous name, and go about showing them how wrong they are by her results.

"How are you feeling today?" she asks her patient.

She has seen many things, it was true; nothing quite like such a young girl with skills as these, and an experienced touch to accompany it. It was admirable, even if it tugged at that gut feeling of hers that something was out of place. What was a relative child doing diagnosing someone like her? Who could tell...

"My grip has been steady," with a small wince, she twisted that hand back and though it seemed to rotate fine, there was a lot of tension therein as she did so. "I will admit it affects my finesse, and there is a dull ache that persists after training." Yes, 'training' not 'physical therapy'.

There is something to be said for accomplishing such feats in light of sacrificing societal norms, status, and the expectations of others. It did no good to hold back for anothers sake; especially when the Big Picture was involved. Service. Duty. Things she'd really rather get back to.

"You are right about that," she intones with a small smile. "I have been given some salves, but they don't seem to be particularly effective." Calpurnia scrunches her nose up. "--and they small to Holy Terra. I'll be glad to be free from having to use them."

*smell to -- oh, how I miss the Edit button ><

Calpurnia chuckled. "Then I am doubly grateful for your assistance, Doctor."

She flexes her hand again, feeling strangely at ease. Perhaps it was the promise of recovery that did it. A boost in morale. "What of those exercises?"

"Alright." Those directions are easily followed, though she doesn't move as carefully as she should. She's in a hurry; the faster she gets this down, the faster she can get better, right? It's not practical or smart of her, but she's stubborn like that. At one point, she winces. "Hn. Well, so much for that pace."

"You're right, I'm sorry." More out of politeness, though she doesn't mean to disregard the doctor's orders either. This next time she's more cautious and methodical, mimicking the movements with perfect form. You would think that she has been at this a while.

"Is that better?"

A few more motions, and then she nods. "I think I have the hang of it. Will there be more?" Calpurnia was expecting a more thorough routine but, then again, this wasn't a visit dedicated physical therapist, just a doctor.

(ooc: sorry for the delay. LJ uptime drama + prose + allergies = lame tagging speed. OTL)

And again, Calpurnia mirrors the gestures, approving of their efficiency. "No, that will be quite alright. I am certain these will be quite helpful in preparing me for full time work once more."

After a beat, she sets down her hands, looking at Ami expectantly. "Will that be all for this exam?"

(ooc: because of the slowness, I think I'd like to wrap things up then? the sporadic access to the site has me rather frustrated and I hate leaving things untagged. ^^; )

"No, I am the one who should thank you," Calpurnia states as she rises to her feet once more, offering her hand for a firm shake. "I see the wisdom in taking my colleagues' recommendation." And she was not disappointed.

"If I need anything further, I will be in touch."
