Cortana was new to this human condition frequently known as dreaming. Machines didn't dream because they never slept. At least she didn't. She knew her time was up soon and then, perhaps, she would know what 'sleeping' was really like. She took a few more steps until she was finally standing beside the armored guy.

"I would definitely mourn if I knew who I was mourning for."

Since the war started, she knew how these things went. There were more bodies than people to dig graves for so eventually people kept getting lost as just another name in a tombstone. She would at least try to make the best for this guy.
