She's running. As her legs pump against the ground, they can't seem to carry her fast enough. Far away from that psycho transfer student that was trying to murder the poor... thing that Madoka carried in her arms. Sayaka tightened her grip around her friend's hand as she pulled her forward, her mind constantly going back to the weird powers Akemi seemed to possess. Just... who was that girl?!

Suddenly, the surroundings seemed to fade away. The basement-esque appearance of the mall's sub floor seemed to all but fade away, leaving an odd, twisted world in their place. Strange creatures began to flit about as the blue-haired girl slowed down, her eyes widening in horror.

"Th... this isn't real, is it?! Madoka! I'm having a nightmare, aren't I?!" Sayaka spun to face her friend, to pull her close for protection and comfort. But the pink haired girl was no where to be found. "Where's the emergency exit?!"

"If you wanted to leave, you should have left this in my hands from the beginning." The scolding is calm - and where Madoka had been, there is now one Akemi Homura, transfer student. She takes her hand away as if it had never been joined to Sayaka's.

"Now that you've become involved, you won't be able to leave until this is finished." This is no threat, or doing of her own. It's the witch's barrier. Homura looks back at Sayaka only for a moment.

"That creature you're doing this for will not thank you." Not, at least, properly. Perhaps with words, and words alone. And then his own game.

"Left it in your -- " Sayaka paused for a quick moment of disbelief, before it turned incredulous, "You're the one that's acting all crazy!" How had Akemi gotten there so quickly?! But her mind wasn't on that subject very long, either. "How is it you're so calm, can't you see what's happening around us?!"

She wasn't crazy, but by now, even Homura had to admit it was possible to see how she appeared that way. Nevertheless, she didn't complain about that. It was simply the way of things.

"I understand our situation," she said simply. "And what's more, I won't lose here." She understood the witch behind the barrier, the deception behind Kyuubey's injury - all of it.

"You understand it?" Sayaka cried disbelievingly, "What does that even mean?!" She wasn't going to waste time here trying to reason with the off-kilter transfer student though.

"Where's Madoka?" she looked around, as though just realizing the sudden disappearance of her friend. "I'm going to find her and we're getting out of here!" And with that, she took off in what was surely the wrong direction.

As if she'd let Madoka be harmed. If Madoka was the one in direct danger, she wouldn't be wasting her time with Sayaka instead. Still, Madoka would be sad if Sayaka were hurt.

"I will guarantee her safety," she told Sayaka, who was unlikely to believe it. "And yours as well. In the meanwhile, while you run around thoughtlessly, you are only a liability to her as well as to me."

A beat. "You are going the wrong way."

Sayaka stopped short, glowering a little as she turned towards Akemi. She was going to guarantee their safety?! Hah! As if she was going to leave her fate, as well as her friends', in the hands of this crazym somehow-magic weilding transfer student! "Like I'm going to listen to what you say!" Of course, that meant she took off even faster in the wrong direction, familiars of the witch quickly swarming in front of her as she skidded, once again, to a halt.

"Ugh! Get out of here!" she started to swat at them in the air, causing them to attatch to her arms as she did so, the panic rising a little more in her chest all the while.

If it weren't for Madoka, she'd be sorely tempted to leave Sayaka to reap the fruits of her own folly. But instead, Homura sighed, and stretched out a hand where her soul gem gleamed. It closed around a bow, and she fitted it with an arrow of pure light energy.

Her voice was much harsher. "Haven't I just told you to leave this alone? Are you that slow to understand?"

The shot released, straight for Sayaka. Lightning fast, so did several more, each catching the familiars that had been threatening her rather than Sayaka herself, in a display of pinpoint accuracy.

As she looked upon the display of the girl's strange powers, she seemed to forget all about the familiars surrounding her -- until one clamped down hard on her hand with a pair of scissors. "Yeowch!" she cried, quickly smacking it away, and kicking another with her feet angrily. She couldn't let Akemi show her up, freaky bow or no freaky bow!

"Yeah right! How do I know you're not going to just start attacking me next like... like you did with that thing?!"

"Miki Sayaka." If she truly had to explain this, things were come to a bad pass. "I attacked those familiars just now because they intended to bring about the end of your life. Can you still not accept that help?"

How likely was it, really, that she would shoot Sayaka after saving her?

It was easy to see that Sayaka was displaying a wonderful bout of stubbornness, and really didn't want to trust Akemi to get them out of here. But it was becoming clear that there wasn't much of a choice. With an annoyed low groan of sorts, she crossed her arms over her chest, and frowned.

Fine, she was ready to see what you could do, transfer student.

What Homura could do proved to be quite a lot. She ran at top speed, calculated first to draw the creatures' attention. Once she gained better ground, she stopped abruptly and took a strong stance. The bow shimmered into her hands again.

"If you intend to remain here, Miki Sayaka, keep doing just as you are right now. These are smallfry, but they will not hesitate to end your life."
