Isn't it likely he's taking her somewhere for his own plans, or perhaps even for his own dinner? She does not quite realize that he is perhaps still fulfilling the will of the forest if he removes its intruder.
In the end, she has no better knowledge of her own, and she knew that when she asked him if he knew the way. She will follow him- cautiously, warily, but closely.
