For a moment, she's too stunned to pick up the rest of the herbs, and too wary to approach the wolf right away. She catches her breath at a safe(r) distance, and eyes him without blinking, as though still trying to figure out the trick.
She knows, in a very small part of her that still exists somehow, that need to protect. What do they put the planet first for, if not the people who live on it? What does she want to be a doctor for, in that deeper heart she so seldom shows, but to be needed and useful and... to never be at a loss when someone important to her is hurt.
Slowly, very slowly, she creeps a step closer, then one more, testing, probing, trying. She doesn't look at the ground, but still only at the wolf-Cloud. She even keeps her eyes on him as she fumbles blindly for some of the milkweed still strewn about.
