The dreamscape this time around is dark. It's a twisted world, a strange pit that loosely resembles his childhood home of Destiny Islands. And he's just... Sitting there. Injured, to reflect the hard battle he fought back in the waking world. But it hadn't been enough, and there's a rip in his shirt to show as much. And there, right on his chest, peeking out of the rip in his shirt, is a black and red symbol, though only a corner can be seen.


He's just lost for the moment, staring straight ahead.]

...I... He really...

[He reaches for the handkerchief at first, but then changes his mind. Instead, he reaches up and grips her wrist. He's shaking, afraid, trying not to let the fear out into the open. Even though he whispers it.]

I'm scared.

[He doesn't want the handkerchief; he wants her. Somehow that urge to make him happy becomes stronger. She lets him hold her wrist and even turns her hand to hold onto his arm in return, gripping as tightly as she's gripped.]

I don't have any intention of letting you be hurt.

[The returned grip is comforting. It reminds him that she is here, that she's not leaving him. That she cares, even if only a little. And the words... Even though they're meant to be kind, they only hurt worse. Because it's already too late.]

...I... I've already...

[She cares so much more than a little. She's just so utterly incapable of saying it properly. She sees herself in him, and that's enough; she'll look out for him as often and as long as she possibly can.]

Even if something already happened, there's a new way forward.

[It sounds like hope; but she'd call it nothing more than that gut determination to make her way forcefully.]

[He can still remember the pain as that hand gripped the heart in his chest, filling the void the would be left behind with darkness as he drew it out and devoured what he needed from it before discarding it. He'd only been barely aware of things at the point, the darkness consuming him. And then he'd "woken up" here.]

[If only she could say that isn't the end. If only she was the sort of person who could say she'll find a way to get it back.]

...I can't do anything. I won't... Even know what I'm doing. Heartless mostly run on pure instinct. I... I messed up...

[He messed up badly. But is it messing up? He got to see Riku. He fought for him, beside him, and things were-- They were okay. He'd even taken a blow meant for him, ended up badly hurt, and that's why he's here. Maybe... It's not so bad.]

[Oh, Sora.]

Listen to me now. [Her voice is firm.]

I don't want to see you give in to that. Even in the Darkness, there's a part that's you. It only disappears if you stop stubbornly fighting to keep it.

[He'll look up at her. And those tears are now apparent. But he quietly nods. She's right. If there weren't some part of him still in existence, he wouldn't be here, right?]

[She doesn't like seeing those tears. She doesn't want to be left lose someone see someone important to her hurt see those tears.

And so she asks such a transparent question.]

When you say 'he took it', who is he?

[After all, it can be gotten back, can't it? But even if she says that, what can she do, locked in his dreams, unable to reach the real boy? She hasn't made him let go or loosened her own grip yet, and her fingers curl as she thinks of her own impotence.]

[For a few moments, a man (http://images3.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20110906202825/kingdomhearts/images/1/15/Ansem_Render_%28Idle%29_KHI.png) flickers into existence--a figment and nothing more, his figure imposing as he hovers just off the ground with arms crossed over his chest.]

[A father could do that to a son. As soon as the apparition materializes, she moves to put herself between it and Sora.]

Give it back, or go and wait to be defeated later.

[Well, if it's not obvious, Sora is adopted.

The apparition just smirks and then fades out--nothing but a memory of the man, and for good reason.]

...It won't work like that. Once he's fed on it, he'll discard what's left and it'll become a Heartless.

[They clearly should have given more thought to letting his 'dad' raise a child. Ami steps back only once he's disappeared. She turns back to Sora and, after a pause, speaks.]

And then? What happens?

[It's called kidnapping. Either way, he stands, and another scene flickers. A man running, only to fall. And then, he freezes. Something exits his chest, the shape of a glowing heart-shaped crystal. It floats a ways off as the man fades, darkness swirling around the heart before forming into a monster that quickly vanishes.]

...I become a Heartless.

[She's not familiar with heartless, but she's familiar enough with this: a human turned into a monster to wreak havoc on the town.

And she's never once spared them. It shouldn't, can't, be different when it's him, either.

But it is different.]

You're still here, in this form. When is the point of no return? [How much time does she have?]

[He's not sure. He's never heard of anyone returning to being human after they lose their heart. So he just shakes his head and shrugs.]

...I don't think anyone's been changed back.

And as a heartless, will you attack the people?

...Yes.

[Lots of them. It's what Heartless do. and slowly, Sora will stand, walking a bit past her with a hand on his chest. Over where his heart should be, and quietly, he recites something:]

Ones born of the heart and darkness, devoid of hearts, ravage all worlds and bring desolation. Seize all hearts and consummate the great heart. All hearts to be one, one heart to encompass all. Realize the destiny: the realm of Kingdom Hearts. The great darkness sealed within the great heart. Progeny of darkness, come back to the eternal darkness. For the heart of light shall unseal the path. Seven hearts, one Keyhole, one key to the door. The door of darkness, tied by two keys. The door to darkness to seal the light. None shall pass but shadows, returning to the darkness. Ones born of the heart and darkness, hunger for every heart until the dark door opens.

Of course not. But I... Heartless are base instinct. There's only on exception to that, and I'm not it.

[She softens the words, barely, by reaching out a hand.]
