There are whole new worlds out there. Some people know this already, some are learning it for the first time. Tonight, it's a world of mystery where nothing seems to work entirely by normal logic and everything familiar from waking life can become different. Flowers have a temper and may not like being picked, animals wear dapper clothes, and all of them talk. Some of them are helpful.

Whether flitting around the edges of this world at the Rabbit Hole or the Entryway, caught up in the Mad Hatter's tea party, taken to the Castle of the Queen of Hearts, the Croquet Ground, or somewhere entirely different, it's Wonderland. Be careful: The signs shouldn't always be obeyed.

(Notes: This is a log to keep together threads exploring Wonderland. Relevant threads can also be made as separate posts throughout the rest of the month or beyond. Mostly, this is an experiment to see how a mass log will work for world exploring. As usual with OPN, it is entirely optional and creative liberty is fine and encouraged while working within the setting. Feel free to use the location notes as prompts, but also feel free to do something else entirely. More world suggestions always accepted here.)

[Kanda made some entrance when he entered the castle. They wouldn't let him in because there was a trial and a be-heading about to start and had he not heard Ami's title mentioned as the accused, he would have probably walked off. Instead, he drilled through the lines of guards leaving quite a body count before taking out the last two guarding the court room and walking down the center isle, sheathing his sword.]

Sorry I'm late, your honor. [He gave the queen a smirk. If she wasn't pissed now, she was going to be pissed about all her fallen soldiers later.]

( Mnemosyne blinked, as though to make sure that the image of the lawyer suddenly entering wasn't just a trick her eyes were playing on her. her heart started to beat slightly faster at the aspect of this being a fair trial... As well as the simple fact that someone seemed willing to defend mercury in such a way. forcing herself to sit back quietly, she folded her hands in her lap -- attempting to appear impartial about the entire outburst... )

Take him, too! [The queen glowered down at Kanda; but with most of the deck already sprawled on the ground, none of the playing-card youma seemed particularly eager. Instead, they kept off to one side, forming two ranks that allowed Kanda passage. A few gibbered in fear. Others looked nervously between Kanda and the Queen; but the very immediate threat seemed to outweigh the one still high and distant on the throne.

Mercury's head turned sharply. Her eyes widened in recognition, and she gave Kanda a nod before looking back towards the Queen. (She hadn't expected anyone to speak for her. That he was fighting for her...)]

So what does my lawyer counsel? [Though the words were ostensibly for Kanda, her eyes never moved from the Queen. A cold smirk touched them as she felt the advantage shifting to her side.]

You shut your damned mouth. [He called back at the queen at her order, his hand staying over his blade tempting anyone who wanted to follow her request on. When he got to Ami, he frowned.]

You're starting to get danger-prone again. [He didn't like that.] You have to make us a way to that door while I kill the queen.

[memorials]

( there was a sharp gasp amongst the jury, one that the girl attempted to muffle behind her hands. did these people... really dare to talk to the judge like that?! didn't they realize how dangerius the situation was?? )

[waterfell]

[She may have realized the danger, but Mercury had never had much respect for this queen. She had even less now. But the gasp drew her eyes, and she realized it: She recognized the girl in the jury.]

If you want to save yourself [she called out to Mnemosyne] make your own path, too.

[And with that, she gave Kanda a clipped nod, and she was ready. Her sword came to her hand in a flash of light, and she drew it back to begin cutting their pathway open.]

[Kanda spent no time at all to charge towards the queen. Sword drawn, he kicked off from the air just as her soldiers moved to attack him. He was too swift, he landed before the Queen's thrown. Too his surprise, the Queen was trying to get away from him, finding some way out of her thrown to hide behind the incoming guards. Kanda wasn't having any of that.]

Come back here!

[He lunged at her, arm outstretched aiming for her neck as her goonies finally reached them, making quite a mess of the situation. Kanda disappeared underneath all those cards.]

( mnemosyne's eyes widened with surprise at being addressed. make... her own path?? her heart nearly lept out of her chest as the man went for the queen. what was she supposed to do?!

the other members of the jury were quickly making their way to safety, leaving her frozen in the scattering crowds as she chaos ensued all around her. )

[He was going for the queen?! Mercury gave one quick look towards the remaining cards, then back towards Kanda.

Her best move was keeping his battle free of distractions. She stayed where she was, meeting the guards with her sword and her ice. A few cried out in dismay as they found themselves entirely imprisoned in Mercury's element.

What was that foolish jury girl doing? (Well. It wasn't as if running would save her if they were determined against her. But Mercury saw no reason to pursue her if they made their real goal.)]
