There are whole new worlds out there. Some people know this already, some are learning it for the first time. Tonight, it's a world of mystery where nothing seems to work entirely by normal logic and everything familiar from waking life can become different. Flowers have a temper and may not like being picked, animals wear dapper clothes, and all of them talk. Some of them are helpful.

Whether flitting around the edges of this world at the Rabbit Hole or the Entryway, caught up in the Mad Hatter's tea party, taken to the Castle of the Queen of Hearts, the Croquet Ground, or somewhere entirely different, it's Wonderland. Be careful: The signs shouldn't always be obeyed.

(Notes: This is a log to keep together threads exploring Wonderland. Relevant threads can also be made as separate posts throughout the rest of the month or beyond. Mostly, this is an experiment to see how a mass log will work for world exploring. As usual with OPN, it is entirely optional and creative liberty is fine and encouraged while working within the setting. Feel free to use the location notes as prompts, but also feel free to do something else entirely. More world suggestions always accepted here.)

"Even if you make a pen, do you have ink?" The place where pens and, she presumes, paper, are scarce does not seem likely to have other niceties, either. The needle and thread are tucked away; evidently, she'd been using them to tease. (Nothing's wrong with liking sewing anyway.)

"All you need is dark liquid. That's easier." A pointed stick could take the place of a quill, if he needed it to. "What are you doing here?"

And then, "what am I doing here?"

Usually in dreams he feels a sense of urgency, a point or goal, so maybe that means this isn't a dream at all.

"We're here to play croquet!" This is of course not an answer at all. Or else she means there really isn't something more to this, that it's only a strange and random interlude between sleep and waking.

"However, your mallet might not be pleased after losing so many feathers."

"Well, that's the stupidest thing I've ever heard."

Howard has a low tolerance for whimsy.

"Then, want to find a way through the hedge maze?" She may be willing to play along here, but she has no intention of staying here forever.

And she already knows that he's sharp-witted. Worth staying by for a little while.

"Intentionally? Why?"

He hasn't really lost his inner child, he's just tamped that part of himself down pretty hard. But in case she knows something he doesn't, he's not totally dismissing the idea.

"It seemed like you wanted to leave this place!" The hedge maze is a viable option. Especially when exits seem to wink in and out of existence with alarming frequency.

This place is not a normal space, Mercury observes.

"Which is why getting lost is a bad option!" Jeez, Mercury!

"Of course it is. However, staying here won't free you, either." She has a point, really. Both have their risks; she'd rather take the risk that at least keeps her moving forward.

"So maybe we cut through the hedges if they get in our way?" He chews a fingernail.

A glint of light drew attention to her sword as her hand closed in a firmer grip.

"Let's go ahead."
